An intriguing battle between two Lightweights rounds out the second Provincial Fighting Championship card. David Hale, a muay thai specialist, recently got stood up at the Kentucky altar when his opponent did not show up for their Bluegrass Brawl main event. Hale has been looking for an MMA fight for a long time and we will finally see how he does in the PFC cage. Devin Murray, an Alberta native and KOTC veteran, has not fought since 2010 when he submitted Jon Simonar via arm triangle. All of Murray’s wins have come between the bells including four first round stoppages and you know Hale will be headhunting on March 8th. Don’t blink as this fight should end quickly.

9. Tanner Boser @BulldozerBoser (4-0) vs. Nick Campbell @NickCampbell (5-4)
Unified MMA 18 – Edmonton – March 28
Canada’s Light-Heavyweight division has not seen much new talent over the years and that’s why Unified’s main event is so intriguing as Tanner Boser has strung together four wins and now faces his career’s stiffest test. Boser, who fights out of Hayabusa Training Centre, has raked up four wins since October 2012 going the distance just once. Nick Campbell, a member of Bowman’s MMA, has gone 2-2 in same timeframe Boser earned those four wins, but “The Boss” fought sterner opposition like Cody Krahn and Marcus Hicks. For Boser, this is the bout he needs to cement himself as a true competitor in Canada’s Light-Heavyweight division, while Campbell will be looking to stay relevant in the same ranks. With only a single decision win between the two combatants, fans should expect to see a brutal finish.
8. Maxime Dubois (4-1) vs Mario Pereira @MarioH20MMA (3-0)
MMA Fight Night – Montreal – March 5
Two of Quebec’s top Featherweight prospects will lock horns to see who is the new top dog at 145 lbs in the belle province. Maxime Dubois, a Team Legion trained fighter, enters this bout on heels of a big win over Dan Lariviere at Challenge MMA 2 last August. Known for his viciousness and wild style, Dubois’ lone defeat came at the hands of undefeated Ontario prospect Kyle Nelson. Mario Pereira, a member of H2O MMA, was nominated as one of Top MMA News’ rookies of the year in 2013 for his wins over Adrian Vilaca and Emilio Williams. A former amateur champion in the Quebec AMMA scene, Dubois is easily Pereira’s toughest test to date in his short career. This is a great example of how styles make fights as Dubois will come out gangbusters while Pereira will use a more technical approach. Will sheer violence take the “W” or will “Super” Mario’s more finesse based style win the day?

7. Lyndon Whitlock @LyndonWhitlock (7-4) vs. Bo Harris (7-5-1)
Provincial Fighting Championships 2 – London – March 8
Two men who have dropped back to back bouts will be looking for a chance at redemption come March 8th. Lyndon Whitlock, who makes his first cut to Bantamweight, may have only gone 1-3 in his last four outings but he fought the likes of Tristan Johnson, Rick Glenn and Gavin Tucker. David ‘Bo’ Harris, a member of Mash Fight Team, recently finished a three fight stretch with Bellator where he went 1-2 with losses to Chase Beebe and Claudio Ledesma. Harris is a known Canadian killer holds wins over Chuck Mady, Brent Franczuz and Adrian Wooley and it took Mitch Gagnon’s pythons to finally end Harris’ northern rampage. Both men are in dire need of a victory and a tough as nails fight stands in front of them. With similar records and styles, this is a hard fight to predict but it will definitely produce a crowd pleaser for the fans’ enjoyment.
6. Kyle Prepolec @KPrepolec (6-3) vs. Keven Morin (8-5)

Following some PFC lineup juggling this week, these two extremely exciting Lightweights will be looking to put on a fight of the night performance come March 8th. Kyle Prepolec, a member of the MTC, recently bounced back from a two fight skid when he TKO’d Adam Assenza at the inaugural PFC card this past October. Kevin Morin, a member of Team Legion, had his most successful year of his pro career in 2013 beating two exciting prospects Jason Meisel and Derek Gauthier via split decision. Fans could be treated to a 15 minute slobber knocker here. The only question is ‘Will Morin add a win over his third consecutive up ‘n comer?’

Provincial Fighting Championships 2 – London – March 8
Ontario has produced big time Featherweights like Mark Hominick and Antonio Carvalho and now the new breed of 145 lbs Ontarians will throw down for provincial pride. Alex Halkias, a native of Thornhill, Ontario, will look to bounce back to the win column after a disappointing first round submission loss to Josh Machan in a KOTC Canada title fight he earned by defeating hot prospect Behrang Yousefi. Kyle Nelson, a member of Muskoka Kickboxing, had a break out 2013 scoring big wins over Quebec bad boy Maxime Dubois and then undefeated prospect Neelan Hordatt-Reece. With the toughest fight of their career lying right in front of them, both men will enter the cage with the eye of the tiger. Considering each combatant has only one decision win, the finish may be hard to predict but fans should predict a finish.

4. Alex Ricci @AlexRicciMMA (7-1) vs. Ryan Healy @DiamondRyan1 (23-13-1)
Provincial Fighting Championships 2 – London – March 8
One of Canada’s top unsigned Lightweights will look to increase his resume with a win over WEC and Strikeforce veteran Ryan Healy. Alex Ricci, who trains out of Mecha MMA, will look to start his 2014 campaign with a bang as he has not fought since June 2013 when he earned a unanimous decision win over Luis Felix. The only blemish on the Woodbridge, Ontario native’s record is hard fought decision loss to UFC veteran Jesse Ronson. Ryan Healy, the brother of UFC veteran Pat Healy, trains out of the Sports Lab and has gone 3-3 in his last six outings including two losses in the Score Fighting Series to Jesse Ronson and John Alessio. For Ricci, this fight is must win to advance his career in hopes of a shot at the big leagues, while Healy needs this win to prove he can continue to compete with the world’s best. Its youth and finesse versus experience and brawn and only one can come out on top.
3. Randa Markos @RandaMMA (3-1) vs. Lynell House @Lynnell10 (2-0)
Provincial Fighting Championships 2 – London – March 8
Canada’s top two female Strawweights will throw down for Canada’s first ever Women’s 115 lbs championship belt. Randa Markos, Canada’s 2013 rookie of the year, recently suffered her first professional defeat when she dropped a unanimous decision to Justine Kish at RFA 12 this past January. Prior to that loss, Markos had gone 3-0 as pro including a win over Fight Xchange cast member Kira Kirsh. Lynell House burst onto the scene at the inaugural PFC defeating the much hyped Shannon Ludlow via TKO in the first round. House notched another win this past November KOing Sarah McRann in under two minutes at KOTC “Out Cold”. House will bring the hand cannons while Markos will rely on her grappling pedigree to this match up. With a potential shot at either Invicta of TUF on the line for the winner, both women will look to take the fight to their wheel house.

2. Eric Wilson @EricWilsonMMA (6-4) vs. Stephane Pelletier (6-3)
Hybrid Combat Pro Series 1 – Gatineau – March 8
With the Canadian Flyweight division starting to heat up, more and more Bantamweights are shedding weight are testing themselves at the new weight class. Hybrid Combat’s first pro show will showcase two such athletes looking for success at 125 lbs. Eric Wilson may have gone just 1-4 in his last five outings but he competed against some of the country’s best including Josh Hill, John Fraser and the Davis brothers. Stephane Pelletier as also hit a rough patch of late, dropping both of his bouts in 2013 to Syd Barnier and Dimitri Waardenburg. Both men need a victory here to reclaim their career and prove they can find the same success they had at 135lbs. While both men are know for non stop action and exciting tilts this match up has all the ear markings of fight of the month.

The Light-Heavyweight division in Canada has been stale for far too long and now it’s time for a shake up as 8th ranked Misha Cirkunov takes on former top 5 ranked Martin Desilets. Cirkunov, a BJJ phenom, has fought only twice over the past 24 months losing via heel hook to Aaron Johnson and redeeming himself with a first round arm bar finish of Jon Ganshorn this past September. Meanwhile, Desilets has been even more inactive not stepping in the cage since 2011 where he was finished by Roger Hollett via strikes in the second round. The loss to “The Hulk” snapped a four fight win streak for “The Stress” which included two first round TKOs over Victor Valimaki. With two completely different fighting styles, Cirkunov’s BJJ versus Desilets’ brawling paws, this match up and the Canadian 205 lbs rankings will be decided by the man with the best game plan.
