Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs speak up about ’2 Broke Girls’ Aboriginal joke

Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs have spoken up about a racist aboriginal joke on their show “2 Broke Girls,” distancing themselves from the insensitive joke made by Matthew Moy’s Han on a recent episode.

The funny ladies broke their silence after the TV series came under fire for taking a jab at Aboriginal Australians. Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs took to Twitter to say they agreed with the critics, which included former Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd who tweeted: “Pathetic attempt at racist humour by American ‘comedy’ – ’2 Broke Girls.’ How low can you go for canned laughter? Program should apologize.”

The joke in question was made by diner owner Han (Matthew Moy) when he said in one scene that he flirted with an Australian woman who’s “part Aboriginal but has a great personality.”

Dennings wrote, “That line was a moment of ignorance from whoever wrote it. It does NOT reflect how I or cast feels. Hope this helps anyone rightfully upset.” Behrs agreed, adding: “I second @OfficialKatThat line was a moment of ignorance from whoever wrote it. It does NOT reflect how I or cast feels. Hope this helps anyone rightfully upset. We love you Australia, New Zealand!”
