Family Guy Simpsons crossover episode revealed at Comic-Con

The Family Guy Simpsons crossover episode is finally coming, with the guys from both shows providing a sneak peek during this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego.

The Simpsons creator Matt Groening gate-crashed the Family Guy panel, quietly took seat, and took the microphone to ask his one-time rivals three questions about their plans for the highly-anticipated “crossover” episode.

Groening asked:
“Do you have any advice for a young, struggling animator?”
“What is Matt Groening really like?”
“Can you “kiss my ass” a little bit more please?”

The two programs have had an historic rivalry, mostly fuelled by South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, whose disdain for Family Guy is well known. But with Groening’s appearance at the ‘Family Guy’ panel, fans see this as giving his blessing to Seth MacFarlane for the planned crossover episode.

The episode will screen later this year as a one-hour season opener for the upcoming 13th season of “Family Guy.” The episode takes the Griffin family to Springfield, the home of The Simpsons. In the clip, Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson bond over donuts, but later fight over their preferred beers, Bart Simpson and Stewie Griffin prank-phone calls and skateboard together.

20th Century Fox announced the episode earlier this year, and The Simpsons’ producer Al Jean discussed it briefly at the annual US television press tour earlier this month, noting that it was in fact a Family Guy episode, with “The Simpsons” voice-actors Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria all guest-starring for the episode.
