The power adapter shipped with the Google Chromecast Audio receiver is a typical medium-current USB power supply, that features a female A style USB connector, as shown in the next picture.

The US version of this USB power supply sports a standard 120v two prong, non polarized plug, featuring non retractable prongs, as displayed next.  Foldable prongs are not always good, particularly for non portable applications like the Chromecast Audio receiver, which requires external power to operate.  They can develop intermittent connections and loosen over time, causing unreliable operation.  So for this non portable application, where the adapter is not likely to be plugged and unplugged very much, we feel that concealable prongs would offer little added value to the adapter, and potentially lots of headaches.

This lightweight and compact power converter accepts 50-60 Hz. 100-240 volts, at 0.25 amps Max input.  It outputs 5 volts DC at 1.0 amps max to the USB A style female connector at the opposite ends from the AC prongs.

The accompanying USB cable matches the dark gray exterior of this supply, and features a micro USB male connector at one end, and a USB A male connector at the other.

Numerous numbers are found on the adapter case as follows: Chromecast model number: 5005BBU0500100 CP51000-US.  I.T.E. power supply, made in China, 07-20-2015.  Listed 20HK, E17B074.

The power supply features no pilot lamp to indicate that it’s operating.  However, there is a lamp on the receiver itself that illuminates when USB power is present.
