When you’re invited to a Sue Wong Fashion Show, you go. No ifs, ands, or buts. It’s always an evening of elegance, beauty and sophistication. Sue Wong never disappoints.

The designer opened Los Angeles Fashion Week at the Taglyan Complex. First folks we recognized: Nikki Sixx (Motley Crew), Richard Grieco, Destin Pfaff with Rachel Federoff (Millionaire Matchmaker) and cutie fashionista twins Lawrence and Gregory Zarian.

While waiting in line, Debra Mitchell (brainchild of Twisted Silver) spotted me and transported a bracelet from her wrist to mine. She said that it would look good paired with my bracelets. I knew the night would be special! (She was one of the jewelry designers who dressed the models.)

A cocktail party pre-show was buzzing as many guests wore Sue Wong’s dresses. Couture fashion everywhere!

“Dreams are private myths Myths are public dreams.”

And then the piece de resistance, the long-awaited show. Turns out Nikki was in the house because the groom, who just celebrated his first anniversary with Courtney Bingham Sixx, was a guest model for the evening.

The statement headpieces were designed by Marika Soderlund-Robison, Lisa Marinucci Design and Maggie Schpak, with Vilaiwan Fine Jewelry and handbags by Mary Frances Accessories. The music was rocking from ”Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah” to “If You Love Me the Morning After.”

For those who have never been in the Taglyan, it is an old time Hollywood venue with killer chandeliers. This show kicked off four days of show, sponsored by Art Hearts Fashion umbrella.

Wong’s motto is beauty, magic, transformation. You could have been at Mt. Olympus in the day! Mythos are narratives – fairytales, legends and folk tales about the heart of humanity and its evolution to present form. Sue Wong’s ethos is about goddesses and their representational archetypes.

Says Wong, “To see Aphroditye is an advocate of love and she creates beauty. Artemis is a fierce warrior goddess and Athena is a seeker of truth and wisdom.”

Symbolism and character is embedded in a Sue Wong gown which is multi dimensional sculptural art piece in motion.

Summer Watson opened the show singing a Beethoven’s opera.

For those lucky to get an invite (we did!), there was an after party at The Cedars, Ms. Wong’s residence at the top of a circular street in the hills of the Los Feliz area. It’s historic in its own right with former guests Jimi Hendrix, William Randolph Hearst and more.

Sue Facter writes about the luxury brand. Her work appears in USA Today, Los Angeles Times, The Luxe Daily, Greer’s OC, Woman’s Day Australia, as well as on broadcasts and the web.
