The Burbank Historical Society is open on Saturday May 10th, 1pm-4pm, and every Saturday and Sunday forward. They offer a special edition cookbook with recipes from their last 100 years, including one for roasted squirrel. The cookbooks are $10 each and available at the museum, located at 115 N. Lomita St., in Burbank.

American Cancer Society’s ‘Relay for Life’

Join your community for this fun event. It’s a 24 hour walk, featuring kids’ activities, bands and comics, with celebrity host Melissa Peterman. The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Burbank is part of the world’s largest and most impactful fundraising event to end cancer.

The free event takes place on Saturday May 16th, 9am – May 17th, 9am (24 hours), at Robert Gross Park located at 2800 W Empire Ave., in Burbank.

Los Angeles Area Children’s Choir Festival Concert

The Second Saturday Series presents Los Angeles Area Children’s Choir Festival Concert featuring: Glendale City Church Children’s Choir, Pasadena Presbyterian Church Rainbow & Carol Choirs, San Gabriel Christian School Junior Choir, St. John Vianney Children’s Choir, Wonders of Worship, Grace Baptist Church, Covenant Presbyterian Youth Choir, and Yorba Linda Presbyterian Kirk Choir. Directors are Lisa Fenderson, Taylor Duling, Vena E. Luthey, Nora de la Torre, Natasha Subadya, Christine Brydges, Connie Teffeteller, Colleen Cronin, and Jessica Nicholson. Freewill donations are received at the door. A reception will be held following the concert.

This event takes place from 4pm to 6pm on Saturday May 9th, at Glendale City Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 610 E California Avenue, in Glendale.

Gala performance of ‘The World Beloved – a Bluegrass Mass’

The San Fernando Valley Master Chorale, with Terry Danne, Artistic Director, will be presenting a gala performance of “The World Beloved – A Bluegrass Mass.” It’s the perfect entry point for choral music lovers to the sound of bluegrass, and for bluegrass fans to the beauty of choral singing.

For those who have enjoyed the choral masterworks with orchestra of Bach, Handel and Mozart performed by this award-winning group, attendees will now be able to experience the classical style combined with the sounds of a bluegrass instrumental ensemble: fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, and bass.

This event takes place on Saturday, May 9th, 7:30pm, at First United Methodist Church of Reseda, located at 18120 Saticoy Street. Suggested donations are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and military, and $15 for students.

The Professional Network Alliance, a San Fernando Valley chapter of BNI (Business Networking International) has scheduled its annual membership drive for Wednesday, May 13th at 7:30am. The meeting will take place at Corky’s Restaurant, located at 5043 Van Nuys Blvd., in Sherman Oaks, and is expected to attract many visitors.
