I’ve realized that we hardly write about our home base Granada hither — perhaps it’s because we’re in such a manner familiar with it that we at intervals forget how beautiful it can have existence. It’s been almost four years from that time we’ve called Granada home, I cogitate it’s time to cabin some light on our life here in southern Spain.
Entrenched in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mount range, Granada is a whimsical city characterized not only by its artless setting but also its Moorish accomplished. It was the last city to be reconquered from the Moors by the Christians – strange to say until today it remains as undivided of the strongholds of the Moorish cultivation. Perched on a hilltop, the old town, furthermore known as Albayzin, is a hodgepodge of white-washed houses, lavish gardens and cobblestone alleys, with copiousness of secret corners to be unraveled.
But Granada doesn’t good offer beauty: It’s also a highminded place to live for its affordable prices, tapas culture and natural environment. As a greater university city, Granada is home to a of great size student population and therefore the prices of covering and food are really affordable in this place. Another reason why we chose to settle in Granada was the prolific and unspoiled nature surrounding the city–it doesn’t take more than half an hour to procure out of the city and into the rustic countryside for some hiking and relaxing. On weekends, we be fond of heading out on short hikes in the valleys and gorges on every side of the city or driving out to the beaches or the mountains that are exactly an hour’s drive from home.

The Alhambra
Looming from one side to the other the city is the world-remarkable Alhambra Palace, an impressive display of the Islamic Umayyad architectural diction. Dating back to the 9th hundred years, the Alhambra was originally constructed at the same time that a small fortress in 889 and on that account rebuilt in the mid 11th hundred years by a Moorish king who built its current stately mansion and walls, and later converted into a monarchical palace in 1333.
