New York: We often clean our sofa – and in the process fish out a ball pen, some coins, or similar such articles. But, would you believe that while cleaning a sofa 23 lac rupees could pop up? Recently in New York three college students discovered 23 lac rupees concealed in sofa arms.

New York residents Reese Werkhoven, Cally Guasti, & Lara Russo bought a second hand sofa. They paid 20 dollars for it. Before using Reese thought of cleaning-up the sofa – but just when he was about to clean an envelop fell from inside its arm.

They unzipped more sections of the sofa, and pulled out more money in bubble-wrap envelopes. Several names were written on these envelopes – the students met all those people and finally traced-out the real owner of the sofa. She was an old widow. Her own children had sold off the old sofa to a scrap-dealer – and to surprise their mother – had brought in a new sofa. But, they didn’t knew that their mother had concelaed her all life’s earnings, in that sofa.

100 dollar notes and other currency was kept inside each of the envelopes. The roomates drew out 41,000 dollars in total. The old widow weeped in gratitude when the three friends handed the money over to her.
