Initially bred as a rescue dog, they have been made famous by stories of their massive size and Alps rescue mission abilities. 19. Doberman Pinschers

Known for their alertness, devotion and sharpness, this breed of dogs is regarded to be the best guard dog where they only attack if they are provoked or sense that their family and their property is in danger. It’s a domestic dog that originated from Germany in 1890 developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Doberman, hence the name; they weigh in the range of 65 to 90 lbs. The Caucasian Ovcharka also called the Caucasian Shepherd, was bred to guard livestock. The typical Caucasian Ovcharka is bold, strong-willed and courageous. But, unless correctly socialized and trained, the Caucasian Shepherd may show ferocious and unmanageable tendencies because it does not accept people it does not know and has a powerful urge to defend.
