I am serious geeking out everybody. This is as good as it could have ever been. We finally have the first bits of juicy detail on the next installment in the James Bond series. Earlier this morning, director Sam Mendes took to the literal stage on the lot of Pinewood Studios in London, England to unveil all of these details. The first of which of course being… the film’s title… The 24th Bond film will be entitled SPECTRE.

The film will once again be directed by Sam Mendes (Skyfall, American Beauty, Road to Perdition).

The plot of the film is said to deal with a cryptic message from James Bond’s past that will send him on a dangerous journey to uncover a sinister organization. While on this trail, M will have to battle certain political forces to keep Her Majesty’s Secret Service (MI-6) alive. As he gets closer and closer, Bond will have to peel back layer after layer of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind this organization.

I think it is safe to say that this organization is Spectre.

Filming for Spectre will begin on Monday, December 8th, 2014. Mendes commented that they will be taking film to many locations throughout the seven month shoot.

These locations are:

Pinewood Studios, London, England

Mexico City, Mexico

Rome, Italy

Tangier and Erfoud, Morocco

Solden, Obertilliach and Lake Altausee, Austria

Writers John Logan, Robert Wade and Neal Purvis have returned once more to provide the screenplay for the film. Thomas Newman will once again provide the film’s score. One major new addition to the crew is that of cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema (Interstellar), who will replace Skyfall’s Roger Deakins.

One of the most exciting things about this film is that Mendes along with the rest of the producers have teamed up once again with Aston Martin to create a new Bond car. It was revealed as well this morning. The car will be the Aston Martin DB10.

This is one of the most beautiful automobiles I have ever seen in my life. I am seriously in love. Mr. Craig, you are a lucky man to get behind that wheel. Aston Martin and Bond have been in business since the third Bond film, Goldfinger, which starred Sean Connery in the title role and was released in 1964.

Now for those of you who thought that the name Spectre sounded familiar. You can pat yourselves on the back because it is very famous in the James Bond series. Spectre is a abbreviation for Special Executive for Counter-Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. This particular international crime organization was led by quite a villain named Ernst Stavro Blofeld.

Waltz was and is still rumored to be playing this part. He was previously played by actors Anthony Dawson / Eric Pohlmann (From Russia with Love, Thunderball), Donald Pleasence (You Only Live Twice), Telly Savalas (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service), Charles Gray (Diamonds Are Forever), John Hollis / Robert Rietty (For Your Eyes Only) and Max von Sydow (Never Say Never Again). It will be very interesting to see how this plays out in the film.

What I am about to say is purely rumor at this point… There are reports still going around that actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) is apparently still in contention for a unknown role. This is again pure rumor. So take it with a grain of salt.

The one thing I wish had been mentioned today was who was going to the film’s title song. Adele of course did a marvelous job and won Skyfall an Oscar. Recently, another British singer Sam Smith has been rumored to be in talks for the job.

Spectre will be released in theaters on November 6th, 2015.

I know I’m going to see it, how about all of you?
