This week we’re pleased to feature a guest post from our Technical Lead, Majid Hussain, who has recently returned from a two week trip to East Asia to conduct training sessions with a few of our client schools.
This summer I travelled to China and Brunei to visit three of the schools we work with and conduct onsite Moodle training sessions for staff. My first stop in China was at Dulwich College, Suzhou to provide initial user training to a group of new Moodle users over two days. Thanks to everyone for making me feel most welcome! With a bit of downtime before my next flight, I took the opportunity to visit the historic Pinjiang Road area of the city.

Next, I flew to Shenzhen, where I received a similarly warm reception at Green Oasis School. The school are currently undergoing extensive building work, and I was interested to see their plans gradually coming to fruition. Hopefully on my next visit I’ll be able to see the finished school in all its glory!
As at Dulwich College, the sessions I ran at Green Oasis were for new users, with a number of staff getting their first experience of Moodle over the two days of training.

The final stop on the trip was at International School Brunei, this time for a follow up training session, including initial sessions for new staff and some advanced sessions for the more experienced staff. It was a perfect time for a visit, as ISB will be launching their new Moodle theme shortly, so it was important to ensure everyone was up to speed with the platform.

Before leaving Brunei for the long trip back to the UK, I was pleased to fit in a visit to the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, a beautiful example of modern Islamic architecture which dominates the Bandar Seri Begawan skyline. I was also treated to a speedboat experience by Carol Hancox at ISB – thanks Carol!
Now back home, I have a busy schedule of development and plenty of remote training sessions to plan with our new clients, however I’m also looking forward to more face to face training sessions over the coming academic year.
