2014-02-10

The recognition team of the Titan Desert by GARMIN, formed by the general director of the race, Félix Dot, the technical director, Manuel Tajada, and our collaborator Juanmi Mora, has successfully completed the reco 2014 of the Titan after a week of work on the ground in Morocco.

Here you are the 10 keys of the reco:

-Longer: This edition will be the longest in the history of the Titan Desert, with nearly 700 km long. Stage 3 will be the most extensive in this Edition, with a distance around 140km.

-1 loop: the first stage will be in format loop, starts and ends in the town of Midelt.

-From North to South: the sense of the race will always be looking south, towards the area of Erg Chebbi and Maadid.

-Marathon: Marathon stage promises to be a spectacle by the location of the camp, in an area of difficult access in which assists are not permitted (no physios or mechanical assistance).

-From cold to heat: the early days of the Titan will be of low temperatures to slowly discover stages under a stifling heat in the desert.

-Altitude: This edition will be one of the strong points of the race, since cyclists pedal in some stages above 2,000 meters of altitude.

-Navigation: The Paso GARMIN - stretch of the race without signs - will reward those participants who are better oriented with the GPS. A good choice can save some kilometres, while a poor choice can do to lose a handful of minutes.

-Dunes: The passage of dunes is located in step 5. Cyclists may not save one of the main attractions of the Titan Desert by GARMIN.

-6 steps: the number of stages is maintained at 6, but their hardness increases.

-No tribute: normally, the last stage of the race used to be less hard and with less mileage. On this occasion, the end in Maadid can have some surprises.

The Organization of the race will come back to the desert during the month of March to draw once again the route and leave it perfect for the Edition number 9 of the most epic MTB race on the international calendar.
