What a great way to spend a Saturday morning! Rita and I toured 4 local gardens yesterday on a tour sponsored by the Coweta County Master Gardeners south of Atlanta. It was inspirational to see the local gardens and ask the owner’s about their plants and gardening approach. We have done this many times over the years and have found that gardeners love to share their knowledge. Keep on the lookout for garden tours in your area. Here are a few photos from yesterday’s tour.
Art created from natural materials surrounded this pre-civil war plantation-style home. Some of the plantings dated back to 1837. (Click photo to enlarge)
This seating area invites the gardener to take a rest, although this gardener’s passion probably did not allow much sitting around time. (Click photo to enlarge)
This is the most unique “flower bed” I have ever seen… an old bed frame with planter boxes of petunias. (Click photo to enlarge)
All the gardens had planters using old wagons, pots and any object that could contain soil. Sedums are great low care plants for containers. (Click photo to enlarge)
This old sink, with a few dishes thrown in, serves as a creative planter for sweet-smelling Alyssum. (Click photo to enlarge)
