Tara Moore is poised to make her Fed Cup debut for Great Britain after being called up to the squad for next month’s opener.

Britain’s number four Moore joins Laura Robson, Johanna Konta and Heather Watson in the team to compete in the 17-nation Europe/Africa Group I in Hungary in February, with the entire squad all under the age of 22 year-old.

Ranked 212 in the world; Moore has been selected by GB captain Judy Murray, the mother of Wimbledon champion Andy Murray, to represent our nation in Budapest which starts on 4 February.

Great Britain are hoping to stake a claim for the World Group II play-off spot which takes place in April having being eliminated from this stage in successive years back in 2012 and 2013 to Sweden and Argentina respectively.

All qualified teams will be split into four groups, with the group-stage winners then progressing to battle it out for two places in the play-offs.

Moore, 21, made her Wimbledon debut last year as a wildcard, eventually losing 7-5 5-7 7-5 to Finland’s Kaia Kanepi in the first-round of the women’s singles at SW19.

And Judy Murray believes the young tennis ace can help Great Britain achieve their goal in their upcoming Fed Cup clash: “Our aim in 2014 is to win through to the World Group II, which would give us a number of home and away ties.

“That would really help us to promote women’s tennis through this fun team competition.”
