DVD Catalyst 4 has been updated to Build 4.4.4.0.

Somewhat a small update, mainly to address 2 issues.

* a rare "1000000" error message during the conversion process.

A few people experienced a strange error message when converting multiple items on a DVD, after the first one completed. While I was unable to reproduce the problem myself, with the help of one of the people who ran into it, I was able to eliminate the bug.

* False Positive reported by Ikarus Antivirus.

Every now and then, some security software decides to abuse the power they hold over application developers, and mark an application as being nasty due to some 1's and 0's that resemble that of something else.

Of course I don't include bad stuff in my own software (for many years I worked as a computer technician and had to clean them), so make sure that my software releases are completely clean before they go onto the website, I use a web service called www.virustotal.com. VirusTotal, recently bought by Google, enables people who use the service to upload files, and have those scanned with almost 50 different virus scanners.

Unfortunately, one of the scanners used on the VirusTotal website started to act all big and bad, and decided to flag one of the DLL's that DVD Catalyst uses as being infected.

As you can tell from the above screenshot, it looks quite strange for just one of them to show something bad, while 47 others, including Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky, all 3 that are a bit more picky than most, don't see anything wrong.

Anyway, the DLL itself, dc402.dll to be exact, is used by DVD Catalyst for "self-repair". It acts sort of like a zip-file, and contains some of the tools DVD Catalyst uses to do its thing.

I contacted them in regards of the false positive, but never received a response, so in order to resolve the issue, I've spent quite a few hours on rebuilding the DLL but with little luck.

I first scanned all the files that it contains individually to make sure those were all clean. I then regenerated the DLL, and did a scan. Again, a red flag from the same virus scanner application.

After a couple of hours rebuilding, scanning, I ended up using an elimination process. By splitting the DLL into 2, one containing the first half, the other containing the second half, I was hoping that the darn thing would flag one of them, so I could move on and split that up until I had the culprit, but to my surprise, after I split the DLL into 2, it no longer found the set of 1's and 0's it tripped over before.

So, what this particular virus scanner does is looking for something with a certain file-size AND a few 1's and 0's in a file, and regardless of if it is bad or not, it marks it as being bad.

With the DLL issue resolved, I spent a few hours today on uploading all the files, trial/retail, exe/zip to VirusTotal to make sure everything is reported as 100% clean. If you do receive a warning from your security software, please use their submission system to have them verify for sure, or just let me know what security software you are using.

In addition to the above, new profiles for the Lumia 929, InnoTab 3s and recently added Nabi models (Nabi Jr. Nabi XD) were added.
