I’ve selfishly hesitated writing an article specifically on Simon Mall because it’s my favorite method to manufacture spending. If any of you have been in the points game for long enough, you’ll know that certain methods to manufacture spending only last so long and then they are shut down. All the Simon Mall method involves is purchasing Visa gift cards at the Simon Mall kiosk and then liquidating them at Target or Walmart using the REDbird, Bluebird, or Serve cards. Let me show you how to manufacture spending at Simon Mall.

Find a Simon Mall

You probably have never heard of Simon Mall’s but they are everywhere, with over 250 across the country. If you live on the east coast they at least do a fair amount of advertising, so you may have heard of them.  Use the following locator to find your nearest location:

Once you have located a mall you will have to find the guest services desk, which is typically a kiosk. It is usually located somewhere in the middle of the mall.

Once you have found the guest services desk tell the attendant, who is typically the mall manager, that you would like to purchase Visa gift cards. This is very important as they do sell American Express gift cards as well. Only Visa or MasterCard gift cards can be loaded on the REDbird or Bluebird/Serve. The Visa Gift cards come in denominations of up to $500 each and cost $3.95 per card.

You can purchase up to $10k per day, but I don’t advise this, as this kind of spending can get you flagged by your credit card company. Always manufacture spending an inch deep and a mile wide across all your cards. I always recommend less than $3,000 a month per card.

I assure you this is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to meet your credit card bonus spending requirements. Let’s say that you need to spend $3k to meet your sign-up spend requirements. That can be done by purchasing gift cards for less than $24. So while it is not free, it’s still relatively inexpensive in comparison to the bonus you will receive.

Be aware that some Simon Malls limit the amount of cards you can purchase per day and may scan your driver’s license. This is rare but it does happen. If you run into this, just find another nearby Simon Mall, if possible.

Thrifty Tip #1: Purchase Simon Mall Visa gift cards to meet credit card bonus spend requirements. The cards come in denominations of up to $500 and cost $3.95 each. American Express gift cards will NOT load to the REDbird or Bluebird/Serve!

Thrifty Tip #2: Liquidate the gift cards purchased at Simon Mall at Target using REDbird or at Walmart using Bluebird or Serve. At Walmart load the cards at the MoneyCenter in the front of the store., and at Target load them at Guest Services.

Thrifty Tip #3: As a last resort you can buy Simon Mall gift cards online but they cost $3.99 extra to ship. I’d only do this if I was very close to hitting my spending limit and didn’t want to waste time and gas driving.

Bottom Line

Purchasing gift cards for only $3.95 each at Simon Mall is one of the least expensive methods to manufacture spending. It’s cheap, simple and easy. Once you leave the mall go to Target or Walmart and use REDbird or Bluebird/Serve to liquidate them and then use the card’s billpay service to pay off the credit card you purchased the gift cards with.
