*Story Time at Lewis Creek – Bellevue;7/5 ; 11:00am – 12:00pm; Look, listen and create during an hour of stories and crafts with a park ranger on the first Friday of every month. Parents and children will explore together the diverse natural world with animated fiction and fun. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult. *FreeTête-à-têter At Frye Museum – Seattle; 7/5; 11:00am to 5:00pm; Frye Museum entrance and parking are free all the time. You can check their events page here, for a list of weekly events.

On the first Friday of the month Children’s stories are brought to life with movement and play in the Frye Art Museum galleries by Frye educators or librarians from The Seattle Public Library. Visit the galleries after story time. Ages 3 to 5 with adult. Both museum entrance and story time are free

*Free Entrance To Bellevue Art Museum – Bellevue; 7/5; 11:00am to 8:00pm. First Friday of the month Bellevue Art Museum offers free admission.

*Jetty Island Opening Sandblast – Everett; 7/5; 11:30am; Flag raising ceremony (11:30 a.m.) with Pirates of Puget Sound, buried pirate treasure hunt and more. Ferry runs 10 a.m. to 8:50 p.m. FREE, donations accepted. $3 parking fee. Reservations strongly encouraged. Non-residents of Everett can make reservations for groups of 8 or more.

*Pay-What-You-Can at Seattle Symphony’s “Soundbridge”- Seattle, Beneroya Hall; 7/5; 12:00pm – 4:00pm; Soundbridge is a music discovery center and Friday afternoons are “Pay What You Can” entrance- suggested donation $5 – $15 per family; Ages 2-5, 30 minute interactive storytelling with song & rhythm, dance & musical instruments at 1:45pm.

*Japanese-American Expo & Community Marketplace - Seattle; 7/5, 1:00pm – 5:00pm & 7/6, 8:00am – 5:00pm; Families and kids of all ages are invited to the free Expo & Community Marketplace at the Japanese American National Museum’s fourth National Conference.  Don’t miss the Expo, where you can participate in interactive and hands-on activities including crafts, scheduled workshops, and three exhibitions on display. The Community Marketplace will showcase products from select organizations and vendors from across the nation. FREE

*Bicultural Fest – Leavenworth; 7/5; 1:00pm – 5:00pm; Award winning author, Luis Alberto Urrea, author of Into the Beautiful North and The Hummingbird’s Daughter, is the featured speaker along with free family activities, including educational and wildlife booths, the Mariachi Estrella Mexico band, the Village Voices, dancing, food, and hourly bilingual Nature walks led by Team Naturaleza.

*Twirl Café Movie Night Social – Seattle; 7/5; 5:00pm – 8:00pm; Grab your kiddos and join us for pizza and a movie with friends or family. *Northwest Seaport Chantey Sing on the Schooner Adventuress – Seattle; 7/5; 7:30pm – 9:30pm; Sea chanteys and other sea songs celebrate our connections to the sea, ships, skippers and sailors. Sea chanteys are fun and easy to sing and are for all ages. The all-woman maritime band Broadside and their counterparts the Handsome Cabin Boys lead the July sing-along aboard the historic schooner Adventuress at Lake Union Park. Part of the Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival. FREE.

*Nighttime Nature Walk – Seattle; 8:30pm – 10:00pm; Join Magnuson Nature Educators for a 90-minute guided tour of the Magnuson wetlands to learn about and see animals and birds who are active at night. Binoculars, field guides, and science tools provided for all, but please bring a flashlight. Park in lot E-5 and meet at the wetlands entry trail. All ages. Cost $3, $7 family.

*CinemaGig Outdoor Movies – Gig Harbor; 7/5 – 8/17 Friday & Saturdays; Gig Harbor’s outdoor summer theater for families. Bring low chairs and a blanket. Cancelled in cases of rain or high wind.  FREE

*Seafair Pirates Landing – Seattle; 7/6; 9:30am – 3:00pm; Dress in your pirate best and enjoy inflatables, live entertainment, vendors, and the arrival of the boisterous Seafair Pirates (due to arrive between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.).

*Tales & Trails for Little Tykes – Seattle; 7/6 & 7/10; 10:00am-11:00am; Introduce your toddler to nature with story time, songs, and fun activities inside, followed by exploration along the trails of Seward Park. Walks are easy and less than one mile in length. Pre-register, space is limited. Recommended for ages birth to 3. Cost: $2 per person.

*Tidepools 101 – Edmonds; 7/6; 10:00am – 11:00am; Learn about the complex and mysterious world of tidepools. A ranger-naturalist will be your guide, as you explore this diverse and ever-changing environment at the edge of Puget Sound. Children ages 12 and younger must register with an adult. Cost: $5 to $6, free ages 5 and younger. Register by 4:30 p.m. the Friday before.

*Beach Exploration – various Seattle beaches; 7/6 & 7/7; 10:00am – 12:00pm; Join beach naturalists and explore the beach at low tide. Dress for the weather; waterproof footwear recommended. *Free Family Days At Seattle Asian Art Museum  – Seattle; 7/6; 11:00am – 2:00pm; Admission to the Seattle Asian Art Museum is free on the first Saturday of each month for families.

*Wallingford Kiddie Parade and Family Festival – Seattle; 7/6; 11:00am – 5:00pm; Children’s parade 11 a.m. (all children invited to march in the parade), followed by a festival with crafts, music and activities at Meridian Playground (4649 Sunnyside Ave. N., Seattle). Noon to 5 p.m.

*Crafts of the Past – Tacoma; 7/6 – 9/29 Saturdays & Sundays; 11:00am – 5:00pm; Crafts of the Past will feature a different artist each weekend who will display and demonstrate a specific 19th century art or craft such as Native American beadwork, textile arts, woodworking and more. Visitors are invited to participate in a hands-on activity to discover just what it takes to produce the various art forms. Saturdays and Sundays, May 4 through Sept. 29. *Scenic Train Rides – Snoqualmie; 7/6 & 7/7; 12:00pm – 4:00pm; Ride through the Cascade Foothills to the top of Snoqualmie Falls. Round-trip excursions are 75-minutes long. Train runs Saturdays & Sundays, April – October.  Board in Snoqualmie, 38625 S.E. *Camlann Village Weekend – Carnation; 7/5 – 7/21 Saturdays & Sundays; 12:00pm – 5:00pm; Experience life in a medieval village through reenactments and hands-on activities. Noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, May 11 through July 21 and Aug. 31 through Sept. 22. $5 suggested donation, free ages 4 and younger.

*Family Bird Walk – Seattle; 7/6; 1:00pm – 2:30pm; Spend time outdoors as a family and share the joy of learning about nature with your loved ones. We’ll begin by helping kids create their personal Seward Park bird watching field guides, and then head out onto the trails to find those birds. A limited number of binoculars are available to borrow. This walk is especially designed for families with children ages 5 to 10.  FREE

*Guided Nature Walk – Seattle; 7/6; 1:00pm – 2:30pm; Our naturalists will help bring the park alive for you with walks to the eagles nest, through the old growth forest, and along the water’s edge. Recommended for ages 4 and older. Regular guided nature walks are FREE and open to the public. However, please reserve your spot on Brown Paper Tickets: www.brownpapertickets.com…. Walks are held Saturdays at 1 p.m. through Aug. 31 (except July 13 and Aug. 3).

*Bellevue Art Museums Get Crafty Saturday – Bellevue; 7/6; 1:00pm – 3:00pm; Free craft time for kids each Saturday. $2 material fee or free with admission.

*Adventure Playground – Mercer Island; 7/7, 7/9 & 7/11; 1:00pm – 4:00pm; Adventure Playground is a one of a kind play area that allows kids to create their own play adventure. Nestled in the wooded forest of Deane’s Children’s Park, children are provided toolboxes, various building supplies, safety items and the freedom to create build-it-yourself play zones with the guidance of staff. Open 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, June 25 through Aug. 29 (closed July 4 and 14). Donations accepted.

*Cast Off! Free Public Sailing – Seattle; 6/9; 2:00pm; Our Cast Off! program allows visitors the chance to sail in classic boats.  Before and after your sail take a walk on the docks and discover the boats. Watch the volunteer crews rigging the boats. They’ll be happy to answer any question you might have, and you may even have a chance to help with the rigging!  We sail rain or shine, but wind conditions may keep us at the dock. Reservations are taken day-of-sail only at the CWB front desk. This is a popular activity so please arrive early to reserve a spot, we open at 10 a.m. Rides are always at 2 p.m., and sometimes also at 3 p.m.  FREE

*Nature Walk at Lake Hills Greenbelt – Bellevue; 7/6; 2:00pm; Explore Lake Hills Greenbelt with a park ranger. Learn the history of the park, tour community gardens, and learn about local wildlife. All ages. 2 p.m. Saturdays. $1 suggested donation per person.

*Mercer Slough Nature Walk – Bellevue; 7/6; 2:00pm-3:00pm; Meet a Mercer Slough park ranger at the visitor center for a free guided tour and learn about the fascinating flora, fauna and history of the Mercer Slough Nature Park. Please dress for weather. No registration is required. FREE.

*The Totally True & Almost Accurate Adventures of Pinocchio – Seattle; 7/6 & 7/7; 2:00pm – 3:00pm;  When a historic Italian theater troupe attempts to tell the most perfect tale of Pinocchio, they’re dismayed to discover their lead actor has disappeared!  The troupe scrambles to find another actor for the all-important title role. But when the show begins, hilarity ensues as nothing goes according to plan and everything goes awry!  FREE

*Explore the Shore – Tacoma; 7/7; 10:00am; Join Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium naturalists for low tide beach walks where you will identify tide pool animals and record their presence and location in order to add the information to the scientific NatureMapping database. This opportunity is great for ages 5 to adult and is a fun and exciting way to learn about the biological diversity of local beaches and to better understand how to protect them. Each event will begin with a short introduction to tide pool animals. Come prepared with sunscreen and appropriate clothing for the weather. Sturdy shoes are recommended for walking on a gravel beach. 11 a.m. June 9, 12:30 p.m. June 26, 10 a.m. July 7 and July 22.

*Return to Renton Cruise-In – Renton; 7/7; 10:00am – 3:00pm; Classic cars, trucks and motorcycles, plus music and entertainment, kids’ activities, vendor displays and sales.

*Alpenrose’s Dairyville – Portland; 7/7; 1:00pm – 4:00pm; Alpenrose Dairy, Oregon’s oldest family-owned dairy, is ready once again to welcome families to Dairyville, a Western-themed “town” located right on the 52-acre dairy farm. A Portland tradition for over 50 years, kids and adults flock to the streets of Dairyville during the summer months to explore this fun pioneer exhibit.  Visitors can peak into Grandma’s Bakery, the Great Western Bank, the Dairyville School, and the post office.  Kids can watch model trains chug through tiny Oregon landscapes and learn from some of the area’s train club experts.  And no Dairyville visit would be complete without stopping off at the Ice Cream Parlor for a delicious Alpenrose ice cream cone. Dairyville is open every Sunday afternoon beginning June 2nd through August 25th.
