*FREE Drop-In Playgroup – Seattle; 4/4; 10:30am – 12:00pm; Join kids ages birth to 5 and their parents/caregivers every Wednesday and Friday for a drop-in playgroup! Have fun playing with other families, reading, and singing. First-time families will be asked to fill out a registration form. FREE

*Story Time at Lewis Creek – Bellevue; 4/4; 11:00am – 12:00pm; Look, listen and create during an hour of stories and crafts with a park ranger on the first Friday of every month.  All children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Registration is required by calling  425-452-6885.  Cost: $2.50 to $3 per person.

*FreeTête-à-têter At Frye Museum – Seattle; 4/4; 11:00am to 5:00pm; Frye Museum entrance and parking are free all the time. You can check their events page here, for a list of weekly events.

*Free Entrance To Bellevue Art Museum – Bellevue; 4/4; 11:00am to 8:00pm. First Friday of the month Bellevue Art Museum offers free admission.

* Half Off Admission To KidsQuest Children’s Musuem – Factoria; 4/4; 5:00pm – 8:00pm; First Friday evening of the month offers free admission.

*Amorous Amphibians Night Hike – Woodinville; 4/4; 5:30pm – 7:30pm; Participants will learn about native frogs, their calls and habits in an engaging indoor presentation and then head outdoors at dusk to hunt for breeding frogs, toads, salamanders, newts and their eggs in our frog-filled wetland.   This event is great for ages 6 and older.  Please note: this event is free to attend, but requires pre-registration on our event website.

*Columbia City BeatWalk – Columbia City /Seattle; 4/4; 7:00pm to 10:00pm; BeatWalk always features a diverse line-up of first-rate, local musicians hosted by neighborhood businesses for audiences of all ages. $7 for adults. Free ages 14 and under.

Saturday, April 5th:

*See Nesting Herons Up Close – Redmond; 4/5 – 7/5 Saturdays; 9:00am – 11:00am;  Dozens of noisy, gawky Great Blue Herons have returned to their nests high in the cottonwoods alongside the Sammamish River.  Come out the first Saturday of every month through July and take a good, long look through high-powered scopes that give a close view of the nests. Hosted by Eastside Audubon. FREE, $1 parking fee.

*Family Day: Food for Good – Seattle; 4/5; 10:00am – 3:00pm; Discover how to grow, prepare, and enjoy healthy foods from around the world through fun activities, music and storytelling. Community organizations will demonstrate how food gets from the farm to the table locally and globally. Learn how kids of all ages can make a difference through fun and exciting volunteer programs.

*Daffodil Parade - Tacoma & surrounding communities; 4/5; 10:15am – 5:00pm; Two-hour parade includes approximately 40 floats decorated with thousands of fresh daffodils, marching bands and more. The parade travels through the towns of Tacoma (10:15 a.m.), Puyallup (12:45 p.m.), Sumner (2:30 p.m.) and Orting (5 p.m.).

*Ridge Romp: Caspar Babypants – Seattle; 4/5; 10:30am; Caspar Babypants is back to rock the Ridge with two shows! Doors open 10 a.m. $5, babes in arms free, limited seating.

*Spring on the Sun – Tacoma; 4/5; 11:00am – 1:00pm; Bring the entire family to play in a bounce house, climb our rock wall, create arts and crafts, enjoy face painting and much more.

*Free Family Days At Seattle Asian Art Museum  – Seattle; 4/5; 11:00am – 2:00pm; Admission to the Seattle Asian Art Museum is free on the first Saturday of each month for families.

*World Rhythm Festival – Seattle; 4/5 & 4/6;  11:00am – 10:00pm; Over 100 world music performances, drum and dance workshops, marketplace, and a drum circle. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. April 5, noon to 5 p.m. April 6.

*Mother Goose Story Time – Seattle; 4/5; 1:00pm – 2:00pm; Bring your kids ages 6 and younger to meet master storyteller Mother Goose for myths and legends, sing-alongs, scavenger hunts and other activities highlighting birds and animals of Seward Park and legends of the Northwest.

*Bellevue Art Museums Get Crafty Saturday – Bellevue; 4/5; 1:00pm – 3:00pm; Free craft time for kids each Saturday. $2 material fee or free with admission.

*Nature Walk at Lake Hills Greenbelt – Bellevue; 4/5; 2:00pm; Explore Lake Hills Greenbelt with a park ranger. Learn the history of the park, tour community gardens, and learn about local wildlife. All ages. 2 p.m. Saturdays. $1 suggested donation per person.

*Mercer Slough Nature Walk – Bellevue; 4/5; 2:00pm – 3:00pm; Meet a Mercer Slough park ranger at the visitor center for a free guided tour and learn about the fascinating flora, fauna and history of the Mercer Slough Nature Park. Please dress for weather. No registration is required. FREE.

*One Hot Night: Spring Fever! – Seattle; 4/5; 6:00pm – 9:00pm; Pratt’s open house features art-making demonstrations like glass-blowing, wood-turning, printmaking and even forging steel. Ages 5 to adult can participate in hands-on art projects.

Sunday, April 6th:

*Spy on the Heritage Park Bald Eagles – Kirkland; 4/6; 9:00am – 11:00am;  In Kirkland’s Heritage Park, the bald eagle pair is back and sitting on its nest high up in a Douglas fir tree. A new eaglet or two likely will hatch later this month.  The nest can be hard to find, so Eastside Audubon will be on hand with high-powered spotting scopes to help you get a good look. Stop by between 9 and 11 a.m.

*Cast Off! Free Public Sailing – Seattle; 4/6; 10:00am – 4:00pm;  Our Cast Off! program allows visitors the chance to sail in classic boats.   Before and after your sail take a walk on the docks and discover the boats. Rides start throughout the day and last about 45 minutes. Sign-ups begin in person at 10 a.m.; space is limited and rides fill quickly. Arrive early to ensure your first choice, especially on sunny days and holidays. One person may sign up five other people who are not present, but no phone reservations are accepted. All ages are welcome and they have life jackets for everyone.  They sail rain or shine, but wind conditions may keep them at the dock.

Monday, April 7th:

*Pajama Story Time – Seattle; 4/7; 6:45pm – 7:15pm; It is pajama story time at the Queen Anne Branch! All ages are welcome to join us for stories, songs and crafts. You can wear your pajamas!

Tuesday, April 8th:

*Village Playdays – Seattle; 4/8; 10:00am – 11:00am; Kid-friendly storytime, crafts and activities at a different University Village store or restaurant each Tuesday. Parents receive discounts and offers for that day. Check website for details.

*Detective Cookie’s Urban Youth Chess Club – Seattle; 4/8; 3:30pm – 5:00pm; Children and teens, ages 7 and up, are invited to join the group. Family and community members are also welcome. Drop by to learn and play chess!

Wednesday, April 9th:

*Tales & Trails for Little Tykes – Seattle; 4/9; 10:00am-11:00am; Introduce your toddler to nature with story time, songs, and fun activities inside, followed by exploration along the trails of Seward Park. Walks are easy and less than one mile in length. Pre-register, space is limited. Recommended for ages birth to 3. Cost: $2 per person.

*Family Nature Club – Seattle; 4/10; 10:00am – 11:30am; Learn about nature through indoor and outdoor activities led by Woodland Park Zoo educators. For children ages 0-5 and their families. Registration is required.

*Tugboat Storytime – Seattle; 4/10; 11:00am – 12:00pm; Listen to stories about boats and the sea aboard the Arthur Foss, a 100-year-old tugboat. After stories, there is time to explore the boat. This is an indoor/outdoor activity; dress accordingly. Ages 2 to 5. Not intended for preschool groups.

*Free Admission To NAAM - Seattle; 4/10; 11:00am – 7:00pm; The Northwest African American Museum is free on the second Thursday of each month.

*Spring Fair – Puyallup; 4/10 – 4/13; Animals, rides, food, arts and crafts, monster truck show, demolition derby, new MindWorks! Interactive exhibit in the KidZone and more. *Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival – Woodburn; 5/4; Daily activities include Children’s play area with duck races, slides, swings and more. Cow train $2 person. *Guided Nature Walks at Tryon Creek – Portland; 4/5; 10:00am-11:30am; Free guided nature hikes exploring the forest and stream ecosystems and natural history at Tryon Creek State Natural Area.  Topics will vary from week to week but will be appropriate for all ages.  Parents must accompany kids on all hikes.

*Trillium Festival and Native & Hardy Plant Sale at Tryon Creek – Portland; 4/5; 10:00am – 4:00pm; Enjoy their native and hardy plant sale, guided nature hikes, nature discovery openhouse and exhibits, local craft and garden art vendors, and native gardening and nature presentations at the only all-urban state park in Oregon! *Community Health Fair at Charles Jordan Community Center – Portland; 4/5; 12:00pm – 3:00pm; The community fair will feature free health screenings and information, children’s activities, food samples, and amazing raffle prizes including a bicycle.  We will also have a wonderful chance to learn about the legacy of the community center’s namesake, former City Commissioner and PP&R Director Charles Jordan.  Jordan’s new book More than Just Fun and Games will be available for purchase.

*Oregon Pacific Railroad Train Rides at Rail Heritage Center – Portland; 4/5; 1:00pm – 5:00pm; The Oregon Pacific Railroad is offering round trip diesel locomotive powered passenger train rides to the public from the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, located near OMSI. Passenger trains will operate on Saturdays and depart the Oregon Rail Heritage Center at 1:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm and 4:30 pm. Rides last approximately 45 minutes. Locomotive cab rides are available for an additional fee.  Cost:  $5

Monday, April 7th :

*Tallulah’s Daddy at Rain City Coffee – Portland; 4/7; 10:00am – 11:00am; Come sing, dance and play with Tallulah’s Daddy as he plays guitar, bass and cajon. Tallulah’s Daddy plays fun, energetic acoustic music for your little ones, and you can grab some coffee, tea or a snack. We start with musical storytime, then sing songs, and we leave a little bit of extra time for the kids to get their hands on some percussion instruments!  No cover charge, donations appreciated.

*Portland Canstruction® Event at Pioneer Place – Portland; 4/7 – 4/10; 10:00am – 8:00pm; An annual art show, design competition, and food drive all rolled into one, Canstruction® raises hunger awareness by challenging teams of architects, engineers, and construction personnel to create larger-than-life pop art masterpieces made entirely out of unopened cans of food. Visitors are encouraged to bring canned foods, which will be donated along with the cans used in the competition to Oregon Food Bank.

*Spring Break Tram Tours – Portland; 4/7 – 4/10; 2:00pm – 4:00pm; The Tram tour includes a ride on the tram and a firsthand look at the control and motor room of the tram. $4 round trip (children 6 & under ride for free)

*Storytelling Festival Event at Raleigh Park Elementary School – Portland; 4/7; 6:30pm – 7:30pm;  The World of Tricksters: Habiba Addo.  Tricksters from Africa entertain and teach life lessons through their follies and humor.  Ages adult to 6+.

Tuesday, April 8th:

* $4 Admission For Second Tuesday At The Zoo - Portland; 4/8; Enjoy all of the fun wildlife and adventure at the Oregon Zoo for a fraction of the cost with $4 admission per person. Children 2 and under are, as always, admitted free of charge. Ride transit and receive an additional $1.50 off with proof of ridership. (Parking is $4 per car.)

*Preschool Play and Skate at Oaks Park – Portland; 4/8; 10:00am – 11:30am; This special roller skating session is just for your littlest skaters. Children 6 and under enjoy games, songs, blals, a 15 minute group lesson, snack time, and more.  Conventional skate rental included.  Shoes and strollers welcome on the skating floor.  Adults free with paid children’s admission.  Cost:  $6.00

*Micah and Me Singalong at Rain City Coffee – Portland; 4/8; 3:00pm; Micah and Me Kids Singalong at Rain City Coffee Tuesdays at 3pm. We will be singing the favorites including Dan Zanes’ new one, “Let’s Dance.”

Wednesday, April 9th:

*Red Yarn at Village Ballroom – Portland; 4/9; 10:00am – 10:45am; Audiences will sing, dance, act, and experience the joy of community during Red Yarn’s interactive shows. This show is hosted by Woodlawn Swap’n’Play, a cooperative community space where children play, parents socialize, and kids’ toys and outgrown clothes are swapped. www.woodlawnswapnplay.org Stick around for open playtime after the show, also hosted by Woodlawn Swap’n’Play!  $5/family suggested

*Wondrous Wednesday’s At The World Forestry Center – Washington Park; 4/9; 10:00am to 5:00pm; Reduced admission for The Discovery Museum. Get in for $3 on the first Wed. of each month.

*Tadpole Tales at Columbia Children’s Arboretum – Portland; 4/9; 10:00am – 11:00am; Children aged 3-5 with their parents are invited to a short story and guided nature walk. Watch birds fly overhead, search for hidden animal homes, and learn about local trees and flowers. Themes change each week and locations change each month.  This program runs each Wednesday March-May. Event runs rain or shine. Families are welcome to bring a snack. *Honeybee Hikes at Leach Botanical Gardens – Portland; 4/9; 10:00am – 11:00am; Weekly nature-related activities for young children and their adult caregivers. Discover the secrets of the Garden and its critters through stories and outdoor explorations. Dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes for unpaved, uneven walkways that could be muddy. Tallulah’s Daddy plays fun, energetic and interactive acoustic music for kids, and brings lots of percussion goodies for kids of all ages to play with!  Cost:  donation

*Mother Goose Magic Show at Washington Square – Portland; 4/10; 11:00am – 12:00pm; Bring your little ones to enjoy Mother Goose’s Magic Show. Fun, funny and exciting, this show is fast-paced, energetic and full of audience participation. Mother Goose (a.k.a. Donna Krewson) is one of the Pacific Northwest’s most popular, award-winning family entertainers. The show will be located in Macy’s Court, and will last approximately 30 minutes. Best enjoyed by children ages 5 and under. Don’t forget to plan a visit to the Easter Bunny following the show.

*Micah and Me Singalong! at Milagros Boutique – Portland; 4/10; 2:00pm; Come join us for well-known kids songs plus some new fun ones you may have not heard before! Lots of chance to jump up and down, move around and get the wiggles out! Even some songs that the adults will enjoy!  Cost:  $5 per child

*OMSI: Gollyology – Science Circus at Cascade Park Community Library – Vancouver; 4/10; 2:00pm – 3:00pm; Come to the Science Circus! Rhys Thomas will use circus tricks to teach you about gyroscopic stability, centripetal force, inertia and balance.
