*Skagit Valley Tulip Festival – Various locations throughout the Skagit Valley; 4/11 – 4/30; Daily events and attractions through April 30, most with appeal for kids and families. *Kruckeberg Easter Egg Hunt – Shoreline; 4/11 – 4/13; 10:00am – 5:00pm; Bring the whole family to the Kruckeberg Botanic Garden during our month-long Easter egg hunt. Avoid the crowds at the single day events and come search at your own pace for eggs that are actually hidden! Younger children will enjoy collecting an egg or two and then exchanging them for a treat. Older children will enjoy hunting for clues to a plant-themed puzzle. FREE, donations appreciated.

*FreeTête-à-têter At Frye Museum – Seattle; 4/11; 11:00am – 5:00pm; Frye Museum entrance and parking are free all the time. You can check their events page here, for a list of weekly events.

*Pay-What-You-Can at Seattle Symphony’s “Soundbridge”- Seattle, Beneroya Hall; 4/11; 12:00pm – 4:00pm; Soundbridge is a music discovery center and Friday afternoons are “Pay What You Can” entrance- suggested donation $5 – $15 per family; Ages 2-5, 30 minute interactive storytelling with song & rhythm, dance & musical instruments at 1:45pm.

*Seattle Art Museum Free for Teens – Seattle; 4/11; 5:00pm – 9:00pm; The Seattle Art Museum is free to teens 13 to 19 with school ID on the second Friday of each month.

*The Way of Trout – Everett; 4/11; 7:00pm; Watch the 1969 James Wilkie film, “The Way of Trout” which highlights the fish’s life cycle, habitat and amazing fight for survival. FREE, pre-register.

*Northwest Seaport Chantey Sing – Seattle; 4/11; 8:00pm – 10:00pm; Sea chanteys and other sea songs celebrate our connections to the sea, ships, skippers, and sailors. Easy to sing and fun for all ages. FREE!

Saturday, April 12th :

*Northwest Family Expo – Tacoma; 4/12; 9:00am – 5:00pm; Exhibitors, entertainment, activities and more. Free Wild Waves tickets to the first 100 people in line. $5, $4 seniors, free military and ages 12 and younger, all proceeds go to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. $10 parking on site, or free shuttles from Tacoma Mall (between Panera and JCPenney) and Bates Technical College.

*Junior Daffodil Parade – Tacoma; 4/12; 10:00am; The Daffodil Festival’s Junior Parade features costumes, pets, music and non-motorized floats.

*Tales & Trails for Little Tykes – Seattle; 4/12 & 4/16; 10:00am-11:00am; Introduce your toddler to nature with story time, songs, and fun activities inside, followed by exploration along the trails of Seward Park. Walks are easy and less than one mile in length. Pre-register, space is limited. Recommended for ages birth to 3. Cost: $2 per person.

*Family Wetlands Walk – Seattle; 4/12; 10:00am – 11:30am; Join Magnuson Nature Educators for a 90-minute guided tour of the Magnuson wetlands. Each month features hands-on activities and exploration, focused on the seasonal changes of plants and animals that live in this beautiful natural area. Binoculars, field guides, and science tools provided for all.  Park in lot E-5 and meet at the wetlands entry trail. All ages. $3, $8 family. Pre-registration recommended.

*Spring Fling – Seattle; 4/12; 10:00am – 12:00pm; Bring the whole family and enjoy arts and crafts, a petting zoo, entertainment, food, family-friendly activities and more!

*Celebrate Urban Nature – Seattle; 4/12; 10:00am – 1:30pm; Caspar Babypants performs nature songs and other kid favorites at the 5th annual Celebrate Urban Nature. Other activities include a reptile show by Son of Reptileman, Sarvey Wildlife raptor presentation, Animal Encounter’s “special spring animals” petting farm and exotic bug zoo, Insect Safari, a Nature Explorers Lab, nature-themed carnival, and more. $3 per person or $10 per family.

*Spring Carnival & Silent Auction – Shoreline; 4/12; 10:00am – 2:00pm; All kids will win prizes playing exciting carnival games such as Treasure Dig, Hockey, Bean Bag Toss, Deep Sea Fishing, Angry Birds, and Bowling. Activities include making creations in the Art Pavilion and reading a story in the Story Time Tent. There will also be delicious food for sale, balloon twisters and other entertainment.  Entry is free, and games and activities are designed for children ages 1 to 8. Tickets for games are 2 for $1.

*Kids Rock Concert Series: The Harmonica Pocket – Seattle; 4/12; 10:30am; Interactive music and dance for kids. Part of the Mount Baker Community Club’s Kids Rock season. Doors open 10 a.m., show starts 10:30 a.m. $5, $15 per family of four, season tickets available.

*Recess Monkey Concert – Edmonds; 4/12; 11:00am; Join them for a special Saturday morning performance by Recess Monkey, the nationally acclaimed trio of Seattle teachers who make music for kids and families that truly rocks!  $5.

*Saturday Family Concert: Your Imaginary Friend – Seattle; 4/12; 11:00am – 12:00pm; Imaginative and energetic songs for young kids. $5, free ages 12 and younger with adult,  $25 unaccompanied adult.

*International Children’s Friendship Festival – Seattle; 4/12 – 4/13; 11:00am – 5:30pm; Dances, songs, musical performances, children’s forum, arts and crafts, and more, run by children’s groups representing dozens of countries.

*Festival of Color – Redmond; 4/12; 12:00am – 4:00pm; All are welcome to experience the Hindu holiday of Holi, which calls for dousing revelers in color. Color will happen in a designated area at a designated time; purchase it on site, and be prepared for mess! Plus, enjoy music and vegetarian food. No eggs, paint, henna, smoking, alcohol or drugs.

*Saturday Family Concert: Your Imaginary Friend – Seattle; 4/12; 1:00pm – 2:00pm; Imaginative and energetic songs for young kids. $5, free ages 12 and younger with adult,  $25 unaccompanied adult.

*Bellevue Art Museums Get Crafty Saturday – Bellevue; 4/12; 1:00pm – 3:00pm; Free craft time for kids each Saturday. $2 material fee or free with admission.

*Nature Walk at Lake Hills Greenbelt – Bellevue; 4/12; 2:00pm; Explore Lake Hills Greenbelt with a park ranger. Learn the history of the park, tour community gardens, and learn about local wildlife. All ages. 2 p.m. Saturdays. $1 suggested donation per person.

*Mercer Slough Nature Walk – Bellevue; 4/12; 2:00pm-3:00pm; Meet a Mercer Slough park ranger at the visitor center for a free guided tour and learn about the fascinating flora, fauna and history of the Mercer Slough Nature Park. Please dress for weather. No registration is required. FREE.

*”A Word to Rhyme with Orange” Reading – Snohomish; 4/12; 2:00pm – 4:00pm; Local author Mathew Wilson will read from his new children’s book “A Word to Rhyme with Orange” which is the story of a boy who must find a new word so he can write a poem for a girl named Orange.

Sunday, April 13th:

*Cast Off! Free Public Sailing - Seattle; 4/13; 10:00am – 4:00pm;  Rides start throughout the day and last about 45 minutes. Sign-ups begin in person at 10 a.m.; space is limited and rides fill quickly. Arrive early to ensure your first choice, especially on sunny days and holidays. One person may sign up five other people who are not present, but no phone reservations are accepted. All ages are welcome and we have life jackets for everyone.  They sail rain or shine, but wind conditions may keep them at the dock.

*Daffodil Marine Parade – Tacoma; 4/13; 11:30am; The Tacoma Yacht Club hosts the Daffodil Royalty and dozens of other yachts and marine vessels decorated with daffodils. The events begin at the Tacoma Yacht Club near Point Defiance ferry terminal and continue along the waterfront to the Foss Thea Waterway in downtown Tacoma.

*Seattle Bot Battles – Seattle; 4/13; 11:30am – 5:30pm; Watch robots of all shapes and sizes battle each other.

*Children’s Nature Movies - Bellevue; 4/13; 2:00pm – 2:30pm; Join us for fun, educational nature movies at Lewis Creek. Popcorn provided. Drop-in; no registration required. Kids younger than age 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Call 425-452-4195, 425-452-4195 for more information. FREE.

*ArtVENTURES at the Henry – Seattle; 4/13; 2:00pm – 3:30pm; ArtVENTURES at the Henry are every second Sunday and are especially for adults and children to learn and create together. Each month focuses on different activities and ways of seeing. It’s best suited for elementary-aged students, but older or younger kids are encouraged to join in. $10 family, free for members, includes a guided tour, activities and art materials. Space is limited, pre-registration required.

*Earth Day Storytelling – Seattle; 4/13; 2:00pm – 4:00pm; Native and non-native tellers share stories about the earth and our relationship to it. Refreshments provided.

Tuesday, April 15th:

*Village Playdays – Seattle; 4/15; 10:00am – 11:00am; Kid-friendly storytime, crafts and activities at a different University Village store or restaurant each Tuesday. Parents receive discounts and offers for that day. Check website for details.

*Detective Cookie’s Urban Youth Chess Club – Seattle; 4/15; 3:30pm – 5:00pm; Children and teens, ages 7 and up, are invited to join the group. Family and community members are also welcome. Drop by to learn and play chess!

Wednesday, April 16th:

*FREE Drop-In Playgroup – Seattle; 4/16 & 4/17; 10:00am – 12:00pm; Join kids ages birth to 5 and their parents/caregivers every Wednesday and Friday for a drop-in playgroup! Have fun playing with other families, reading, and singing. First-time families will be asked to fill out a registration form.  FREE

*Easter Egg Hunt Party – Seattle; 4/16; 6:00pm – 8:00pm; Join us at 6 p.m. for a free community dinner. After dinner the large group will break into three smaller age groups. Each group will rotate between three stations for an Easter egg hunt, DJ dance party and story.

*Cougars! - Everett; 4/17; 7:00pm – 8:30pm; Join presenter Brian Kertson for an entertaining and informative lecture on cougar ecology, behavior, and management. *Portland Canstruction® Event at Pioneer Place – Portland; 4/11 & 4/12; 10:00am – 8:00pm; An annual art show, design competition, and food drive all rolled into one, Canstruction® raises hunger awareness by challenging teams of architects, engineers, and construction personnel to create larger-than-life pop art masterpieces made entirely out of unopened cans of food. Visitors are encouraged to bring canned foods, which will be donated along with the cans used in the competition to Oregon Food Bank. This year’s goal is to raise 150,000 meals.

*Micah and Me Singalong! at A Children’s Place bookstore – Portland; 4/11; 10:30am; Come enjoy action songs and get some wiggles out! Even a few songs that adults might enjoy as well!

*Marine Science Day at Hatfield Marine Science Center - Newport; 4/12; 10:00am – 4:00pm; Join the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) in Newport for Marine Science Day! Meet researchers from Oregon State University and six government agency partners. Explore with interactive science displays presented by marine scientists and special family-friendly activities by Oregon Sea Grant, the Oregon Coast Aquarium and US Fish and Wildlife.

*The 13th Annual NW Pet & Companion Fair – Portland; 4/12 & 4/13; 10:00am – 5:00pm;  The NW Pet & Companion Fair is the largest pet expo and adoption event in the Pacific Norhtwest!  Admission is free and pets are welcome to this super fun pet celebration. The event takes place at the Portland Expo Center on April 12-13, 2014.   Things to do at the Pet Fair:  Shop at exhibitor booths, Watch a performance on the Center Stage, See a Flyball Dog Relay Race inside the exhibit hall, Pet the animals in the petting zoo, Watch the pet fashion show, Enjoy the educational walk-through aviary, Adopt a pet, Enter your dog into the Truffle Dog Tournament and more!

* Kids Saturday Morning Skate Session At Oaks Park – Portland; 4/12; 10:30am – 12:00pm; For $6 children 10 and under can skate (skates included). Parents free with paid child admission.

*Healthy Kids Spring Event at An Sen - Portland; 4/12; 12:00pm – 4:00pm; Celebrate spring at An Sen’s grand opening of their new Wellnes Center in Laurelhurst. Stop by between 12-4pm…Fun for the family with face painting, balloons, Easter egg games, prizes, smoothies. Kids learn to grow their own medicinal herb garden, music, wine and more.

*Hillslboro Latino Festival – Hillsboro, OR; 4/12; 12:00pm – 5:00pm;  Join in on the festivities with an afternoon of food, entertainment, art, culture and sports for the entire family. Parade at noon.  The festival will feature a parade, arts village and a street soccer tournament all in historic downtown Hillsboro.  Civic Center Plaza is in downtown Hillsboro, 150 E. Main St., a 3 minute walk from the Hatfield Government Center MAX Station.

*Second Saturday at the Water Center: Amphibians and Reptiles – Vancouver; 4/12; 1:00pm – 3:00pm; Celebrate Earth Month and become a herp hero! Explore the important roles reptiles and amphibians (herps) play in nature’s ecosystems. If you have ever thought about keeping herps as pets, find out which ones are good for beginners. Discover simple things you can do in your yard to attract and protect frogs and other wildlife. Kids must be accompanied by a grown-up.

*Oregon Pacific Railroad Train Rides at Rail Heritage Center – Portland; 4/12; 1:00pm – 5:00pm; The Oregon Pacific Railroad is offering round trip diesel locomotive powered passenger train rides to the public from the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, located near OMSI. Passenger trains will operate on Saturdays and depart the Oregon Rail Heritage Center at 1:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm and 4:30 pm. Rides last approximately 45 minutes. Locomotive cab rides are available for an additional fee.  Cost:  $5

*2nd Saturday Family Dance at Fulton Park Community Center – Portland; 4/12; 4:30pm – 6:30pm; The wonderful Janet Trygstad will be calling a great selection of dances, backed by 5 Euro Tip. Great fun for adults and children of all ages. Cost:  $6/adult, $5/child, $20/family maximum and babes in arms – free.

Sunday, April 13th:

*Curious Garden at the Curious Comedy Theater – Portland; 4/13; 10:30am – 11:30am;  The Curious Garden is a show for all ages – especially kids 0-8. Every month on the second Sunday at 10:30am. And remember each episode ends with an open mic where you can sing, dance, tell a joke and show off your talent at the Curious Garden. $5 suggested donation.

*Ruckus in the Lobby at Artist Rep – Portland; 4/13 – 5/25 Sundays; 11:00am – 11:45am; Traveling Lantern Theatre two-person family-friendly play every Sunday morning at 11 am. Includes a Q&A with the cast afterward. Tickets are only $5 for all who attend over 5 years old, and can be purchased at the door or at www.artistsrep.org.  Cost:  $5

*The David Show! at Rain City Coffee – Portland; 4/13; 1:00pm – 2:00pm; Musical variety show for children of all ages and their families, now on Sundays.  Free, donations accepted.

*JuggleMania with Shoehorn at the Village Ballroom – Portland; 4/13; “JuggleMania with Shoehorn” contains two of the Northwest’s most unique and engaging variety performers. Knives fly, plates spin, tiny pianos play and volunteers become part of a show that is often compared to Pixar for its all-ages appeal.  Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Show from 4 – 5:30 p.m. Food and drinks served by Oregon Public House. Tickets are $5 advance, available at www.BrownPaperTickets.com, $7 at the door (if still available).

Monday, April 14th :

*Tallulah’s Daddy at Rain City Coffee – Portland; 4/14; 10:00am – 11:00am; Come sing, dance and play with Tallulah’s Daddy as he plays guitar, bass and cajon. Tallulah’s Daddy plays fun, energetic acoustic music for your little ones, and you can grab some coffee, tea or a snack. They start with musical storytime, then sing songs, and we leave a little bit of extra time for the kids to get their hands on some percussion instruments!  No cover charge, donations appreciated.

*Music Class with Johnny Keener at The Treehouse – Portland; 4/14; 12:00pm; He will craft music for kids that is exciting and fun, as well as artistically satisfying.  He is committed to inviting kids into the musical process providing them with a musical experience they won’t forget!  Best for ages 0-6.  Cost:  $5 per child

*Total Lunar Eclipse Viewing at OMSI – Portland; 4/14; 9:30pm – 2:30am; On 4/14, the full moon will slide through the dark shadow of the Earth and for 73 minutes the only light hitting the Moon will be a reddish glow from all of Earth’s sunrises and sunsets resulting in a total lunar eclipse. Weather permitting; a free viewing of the eclipse will begin at 9:30 pm at at Milo McIver State Park in Estacada with the Rose City Astronomers, and Oregon Parks and Recreations will have telescopes set up for attendees to use. Warm clothing is a must, and a flashlight with red light is recommended. Personal telescopes and binoculars are always welcome.  Cost:  Free, $5 to park

Tuesday, April 15th : 

*Story Time with Olive and Dingo @ Warehouse Cafe – Portland; 4/15; 10:00am – 11:00am; Fun for all. Not your average story time. Full of comedy, songs, stories, balloons and laughter. Sure to get the jumpers jumping, the dancers dancing, wigglers wiggling and the noise makers cooing.  Balloons twisting and fellowship is at the end of the show.  Cost:  $5 per child for balloons and entertainment

*Preschool Play and Skate at Oaks Park – Portland; 4/15; 10:00am – 11:30am; This special roller skating session is just for your littlest skaters. Children 6 and under enjoy games, songs, blals, a 15 minute group lesson, snack time, and more.  Conventional skate rental included.  Shoes and strollers welcome on the skating floor.  Adults free with paid children’s admission.  Cost:  $6.00

*Micah and Me Singalong at Rain City Coffee – Portland; 4/15; 3:00pm; Micah and Me Kids Singalong at Rain City Coffee Tuesdays at 3pm. We will be singing the favorites including Dan Zanes’ new one, “Let’s Dance.”

Wednesday, April 16th :

*Tadpole Tales at Columbia Children’s Arboretum – Portland; 4/16; 10:00am – 11:00am; Children aged 3-5 with their parents are invited to a short story and guided nature walk. Watch birds fly overhead, search for hidden animal homes, and learn about local trees and flowers. This program runs each Wednesday March-May. Event runs rain or shine. *Honeybee Hikes at Leach Botanical Gardens – Portland; 4/16 10:00am – 11:00am; Weekly nature-related activities for young children and their adult caregivers. Discover the secrets of the Garden and its critters through stories and outdoor explorations. Dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes for unpaved, uneven walkways that could be muddy. Strollers limit where we can explore, so carriers are ideal for little ones. No pre-registration required. Best for ages 1-6.  Cost:  $2 per child

*Miss SaraMag at Treehouse Boutique – Portland; 4/16; 10:30am; Miss SaraMag loves to sing, dance, play, inspire, and teach. During the show, you will sing and dance along as Miss SaraMag sings, plays the piano, and incorporates percussion and American Sign Language. Feel free to bring your favorite instrument and play along!  Cost:  $5

*Panda Craft and Poetry Station at Green Bean Books – Portland; 4/16; 12:00pm – 5:00pm; Based on one of our new favorite books Hi, Koo! by Jon J. Muth and to celebrate National Poetry Month, kids can make their own Panda face and compose their own poetry!  Stop by anytime on Wednesday, April 16th, between 12-5pm!

*Mo Phillips Party Time! at Oregon Public House – Portland; 4/16; 5:00pm – 6:00pm; Join Mo for some excellent family rock out dinner action

*Tallulah’s Daddy at Warehouse Cafe – Portland; 4/17; 10:00am – 11:00am; Tallulah’s Daddy plays fun, energetic and interactive acoustic music for kids, and brings lots of percussion goodies for kids of all ages to play with!  Cost:  donation

*Micah and Me Singalong! at Milagros Boutique – Portland; 4/17; 2:00pm; Come join us for well-known kids songs plus some new fun ones you may have not heard before! Lots of chance to jump up and down, move around and get the wiggles out! Even some songs that the adults will enjoy!  Cost:  $5 per child

*Heart in Hand Preschool Puppet Plays at Green Bean Books – Portland; 4/17; 3:30pm – 4:00pm; Enjoy a delightful production of Little Tuppens by Ms. Yvonne of Heart in Hand Preschool.
