*Nature Walk at Lake Hills Greenbelt – Bellevue; 2/22; 2:00pm; Explore Lake Hills Greenbelt with a park ranger. Learn the history of the park, tour community gardens, and learn about local wildlife. All ages. 2 p.m. Saturdays. $1 suggested donation per person.

*Mercer Slough Nature Walk – Bellevue; 2/22; 2:00pm-3:00pm; Meet a Mercer Slough park ranger at the visitor center for a free guided tour and learn about the fascinating flora, fauna and history of the Mercer Slough Nature Park. Please dress for weather. No registration is required. FREE.

*Teen Workshop: Figure Drawing – Bellevue; 2/22; 3:00pm – 5:00pm; Looking to improve your drawing skills and to try something out of the ordinary? Join the Teen Arts Council for an engaging classical drawing workshop led by artist Alex Chubotin. Teens will explore line, form and composition of the human figure using graphite and charcoal. *Little Kids Ride at the Lumberyard – Portland; 2/21, 2/24 – 2/26; 9:00am – 12:00pm;  The Lumberyard, Portland’s indoor bike park, includes jump lines, pump tracks, skill sections and technical trail riding for beginners to experts.  Weekday mornings that major Portland area metropolitan schools are in session kids 6 and under ride for just $6 from 9 am until noon. If they want to continue riding after noon it’s just another $6 until 2 pm.

*Family Friday Concerts at The Community Music Center – Portland; 2/21; 7:15pm – 10:15pm; MT Duo performs. Our volunteer-run series of once-a-month low-cost concerts for children & families returns. All Family Friday concerts start at 7:15 pm and run about an hour (no intermission). Admission is free, with suggested donation of $5 per person or $15 for a family. Doors open at about 6:45 pm.

Saturday, February 22nd :

*Free Dental Sealant Day – Portland; 2/22; 8:00am – 4:00pm; February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. To honor children in the Portland metro area, Portland Family Dentistry will offer free sealants for children ages 7 to 15 years old. on Saturday, February 22nd. Children will be seen by appointment only, so please contact 503-284-3588503-284-3588 to schedule a convenient time.  Children do not need insurance to take part in the complimentary sealants. There are no restrictions or requirements, and there will be no fees associated with treatment on Sealant Day. Sealants can reduce cavities by more than 60% by creating a barrier to protect teeth against decay-causing bacteria. Sealant material used is BPA-Free. All treatment is provided by Dr. Travis Agee and the team at Portland Family Dentistry.

*Oregon Pacific Railroad Train Rides at Rail Heritage Center – Portland; 2/22; 1:00pm – 5:00pm; The Oregon Pacific Railroad is offering round trip diesel locomotive powered passenger train rides to the public from the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, located near OMSI. Passenger trains will operate on Saturdays and depart the Oregon Rail Heritage Center at 1:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm and 4:30 pm. Rides last approximately 45 minutes. Locomotive cab rides are available for an additional fee.  Cost:  $5

*Monsters Under Bridges at Green Bean Books – Portland; 2/22; 1:00pm – 1:30pm; Meet a slew of lovable monsters who reside under the many different bridges of the Pacific Northwest. Join author Rachel Roellke Coddington and the creative team Jolby as they read from their popular picture book Monsters Under Bridges.  Stay after for a drawing activity and to get your book signed.

*Cascade Festival of African Films Family Day at PCC Cascade – Portland; 2/22; 2:00pm; Baba Wagu Diakit of Mali, artist and author, will be host and storyteller before the film.  Khumba is an animated adventure comedy about a half-striped zebra who is blamed for the lack of rain by the rest of his superstitious herd. He decides to embark on a quest to earn his stripes. Khumba ventures beyond the fence, encountering a colorful range of characters, including a migrating herd of antelope in search of greener pastures, a new-age community living safely within the confines of a luxurious national park, an endangered rabbit who has survived extinction by mastering impersonations and beat-boxing, a group of hysterical dassies (rock rabbits) who fanatically worship the Mighty Black Eagle, and Nora, a loony, solitary sheep living on an abandoned farm. Through these interactions, Khumba begins to learn that diversity is essential for survival and that one’s difference can, in fact, be one’s strength. In English.

*Mr. Hoo’s CD Release Party at Village Ballroom – Portland; 2/23; 4:00pm – 5:30pm; Local children’s musician Mr. Hoo, one half of the children’s band The Alphabeticians, has released his first solo CD, Metamorphosis, and is celebrating with a big party. Mr. Hoo’s CD release party will provide plenty of opportunities for families to sing, dance and interact with the music. He will have several local children’s musicians join him on songs. Tallulah’s Daddy (Matt Lynch) and Matt Clark are both talented solo artists who have joined Mr. Hoo in the past. And Mr. E (Eric Levine) is his partner in The Alphabeticians. Together they will provide Mr. Hoo with a full band. Tickets are $5 in advance, available through BrownPaperTickets.com. If still available, tickets will be $7 at the door. Babies are free. *Tallulah’s Daddy at Rain City Coffee – Portland; 2/24; 10:00am – 11:00am; Come sing, dance and play with Tallulah’s Daddy as he plays guitar, bass and cajon. Tallulah’s Daddy plays fun, energetic acoustic music for your little ones, and you can grab some coffee, tea or a snack. *Winter Story Time Stay-n-Play at TaborSpace – Portland; 2/25; 10:00am – 11:15am; Darlene Sochin,?a professional classroom teacher of 24 years, will share her love of reading and telling stories with toddlers, preschoolers, parents, and caregivers. Every Tuesday morning this winter here in Portland, she offers story time, and activities to follow, for a fun way to brighten up your rainy winter mornings. Sure to get the jumpers jumping, the dancers dancing, wigglers wiggling and the noise makers cooing. Olive and Dingo are bright and cheery, cartoony characters who love inspiring kids and families to be silly, to love imrove and creative performance and to be the best audience members Portland has ever known! *Mo Phillips Party Time! at Oregon Public House – Portland; 2/26; 5:00pm – 6:00pm; Join Mo for some excellent family rock out dinner action. Great food! Great beers! Great pub! Great tunes! The Oregon Public House is a non-profit pub that sends all profits to local charities — and you get to choose which charity on the list you would like your funds to go to!

Thursday, February 27th :

*Tallulah’s Daddy at Warehouse Cafe – Portland; 2/20; 10:00am – 11:00am; Come sing, dance and stomp like a dinosaur as Tallulah’s Daddy sings and plays his guitar, bass and cajon. Tallulah’s Daddy plays fun, energetic and interactive acoustic music for kids, and brings lots of percussion goodies for kids of all ages to play with!  Cost:  donation

*St Johns Swapnplay Playspace Open Play - Portland; 2/27; 10:00am – 12:00pm; Free to all! This is a chance to come learn, play and grow. Free toddler/preschooler art class from 10-11. First come first served as we run out of materials after 15 students. Open Play is an open time for non-members to enjoy the space.

*Storytime at A Children’s Place Bookstore – Portland; 2/27; 10:30am – 11:00am; Enjoy this free weekly storytime at the lovely A Children’s Place Bookstore.  A variety of books for different age ranges will be read.  FREE.

*Mommy & Me with a Jewish twist – Portland; 2/27; 10:30am – 11:30am; Join other moms and bond with your child while exploring the Jewish world through play, music & movement, stories and crafts. Ages 0-3 years. Healthy snacks provided. Open to all and free of charge.
