MIX. IT. UP.

Upcycling is so much fun! It takes thrift to a whole new level when you can transform

an already-secondhand piece into something totally new. I was able to take a pair of

my (quite loud) paisley tights, and make this awesome head wrap for my daughter.

(Here’s the steps again for the knot tying if you missed it on my tutorial post)

In the original post, I showed you how to make the head wrap using regular fabric

strips from a thrifted dress I had. This head wrap is even simpler to make, as all you

do to get the materials is chop both legs off the tights, then tie the knot as above.

TA-DA! It’s still kind of amazing to me that these are tights, and so easy to do.

Since the wrap is bright and busy, I paired it with a neutral top, while still having a

great pattern and texture with the layers. Then I added a tiny splash of sparkle with

a DIY gold elastic band/bracelet.

I say it over and over: Putting a great outfit together is ALL about BALANCE.

In every look, balance color, pattern, texture/material and fit.

I’m in love with these little gold gladiator sandals. Little denim leggings go with pretty

much any top, and for this newly-walking little miss, it’s all comfy enough for movement.

Since I was so stoked on the upcycled tights wrap, I totally raided my sock drawer

and said my goodbyes to multiple pairs of tights. I loved wearing this teal lace

pair popped under a lot of cute skirts for years, and now it was time for it’s new life.

Oh, ya know, just chillin with a MERMAID. NBD.

For dressing yourself or a little one, you don’t have to have a *ton* of pieces

for a diverse set of looks. MIX AND MATCH. Using the same top and leggings

as the base, it’s easy to make a whole new look by switching out the accessories.

This look is the first look, just using the teal knotted head wrap and silver

shoes instead of gold. Jeans & a white top are so versatile! STYLIST TIP:

pair gold accessories with warmer colors, and silver with cooler colors.

This is the original look, just switching out the white top for this tan one.

Same silhouette, just a softer shade, and added a braided leather headband of mine

wrapped around her wrist as a baby-safe (no beads or hard pieces) bracelet.

And of course, we had our complimentary outfits, me in an oatmeal knitted long vest,

tan comfy tunic, gold jewelry to pair with her gladiator sandals, and red flats to

mirror her head wrap. All in all, happy thrifted coordinated girlies, out adventuring

together. Til next week — Happy Thrifting, everyone! XO Kari & Olive
