Hosting her brother’s wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning’s life. Already the family screw-up, she can’t afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.

Blake Riley sees the wedding as fate’s gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he’s the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he’s facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he’s really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you’ve got to make an effort if you want to score.

But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: Will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?

Caution: May cause accidental aspiration of tea or coffee. Do not read in a public place where loud laughter is inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppy cuddling and a snarky pair of underwear.

Stacia says…

Good Boy is the newest collaboration from authors Ella Kennedy and Sarina Kennedy. And although this is the first book in a new series, if you’ve read Him and Us, you will definitely remember Jamie and Wes- the main characters from those books. Good Boy brings in characters we briefly met in the Him series- Jamie’s sister Jess and Wes’s hockey teammate/best friend Blake.      **Good Boy can be read as a standalone **

Jess Canning’s current job (she tends to jump from career to career very often) is as a party planner; so she is the perfect choice to put together a fabulous wedding for her brother Jamie and his fiancé  Wes.  Blake, Wes’s best man, seems like the typical player, but he can’t stop thinking about his one-time hook up with Jess and definitely wants a repeat and maybe even more. He is tired of being alone and is ready to move on from having his heart broken years ago.

“It’s been a long time since anything felt so fucking good. I’m drowning in this girl and I don’t want to be saved.”

Blake  is loud and a bit obnoxious, but he can’t help but also be very lovable and it was easy to fall in love with his sweet heart! He is also very supportive and charitable- which was a side of him that was very unexpected. To be honest, I wasn’t sure about Jess at first. She seemed a bit flighty and it took her a while for her to see what was standing right in front of her. I loved all the banter between Blake and Jess- plus the rest of is teammates and their awesome personalities was an added bonus.

“She deserves to have everything handed to her on a silver platter. Because she’s a queen. I guess that makes me her king? Yeah, I like the sound of that. King Blake.”

I think the only thing missing for me, would be more closure (epilogue) at the end. But, it didn’t take away from the book without it. Overall, Good Boy is a funny and sweet read. I can’t wait for more from this series and from this dynamic author duo!!
