Notorious Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer with Chelsea being named as one of his possible destinations. Regarding this speculation, Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has come out and said he would welcome Suarez to Stamford Bridge in spite of the fact Suarez bit him during a match last season. Ivanovic said:

About Luis Suarez, I said straight after the game, whatever happened on the field finished there. He’s one of the best strikers in the Premier League. I don’t have any problem with him.”

So why should Suarez join Chelsea when he has other Champions League clubs he could go to? Well there are three good reasons.

Firstly, he would most likely be their main striker assuming he gets even close to the form of last season. Currently, he is much more effective than both Torres and Ba, and Lukaku doesn’t seem to have the full trust of Mourinho as of yet. It would sort of be like how Van Persie came into the Man Utd squad last season and instantly established himself as their main striker ahead of Rooney.

Secondly, Chelsea are better positioned than Liverpool monetarily plus they have a better squad as is evident by the fact they finished 4 places and 14 points ahead of the Merseysiders last season.

Lastly, Chelsea is one club where Suarez’s trouble making character may be overlooked and may even be praised. John Terry, Dennis Wise, Vinnie Jones, these are but a few of the controversial characters that have walked upon Chelsea’s turf over the years. Heck, even the manager has been known to be involved in a dispute or two.

After missing out on Edinson Cavani to PSG, the West London club have turned their attention to Suarez to give them more firepower up front.

Chelsea are however set to face stiff competition from Real Madrid and Arsenal in acquiring Suarez’s signature, with the latter set to make a £35m bid for Suarez.
