S/S 2013 Collection by Craig Green-
Craig Green continues his fascination with the interplay of light and dark for his first on schedule collection with Fashion East at the BFC's inaugural London Collections: Men. First explored in his Central Saint Martins MA collection, where shadow was depicted through black duplicates of specific looks, the theme has been reapproached with renewed subtlety for Spring/Summer 13. Playing with the balance of tones within the palette of white and creme, and their manipulation through various textures, in a collection focused on 'out of the ordinary British tradition', and the effigy of Guy Fawkes.
A self proclaimed D-I-Y enthusiast, Green has treated each of the 15 garments in this collection as an individual project. Crinkle washed calico , cotton knitting yarn, mohair, screen printed suede and muslin cheesecloth, are applied to a traditional silhouette. The beauty of each item heightened with the application of unusual finishing, from raw cut anti-fray techniques, to punched out button holes and rubber dipped sleeves. The physical potential of each fabric vigorously explored, to create well considered clothing, imbued with a robust sense of craftsmanship, and a worn in approachability.
