Promotion hopefuls Leeds United suffered a huge blow in their bid for automatic promotion as they fell to a narrow 3-2 defeat away at Barnsley on Saturday.

Despite star striker Chris Wood scoring a brace for Leeds, it eventually proved short as Paul Heckingbottom’s men stood firm to record an impressive victory at home.

The defeat just their 2nd in 10 league outings for Garry Monk’s men sees the Yorkshire club drop to 4th in the Championship table. Fans as expected were visibly distraught with the defeat after riding a wave of high in recent months.

In the wake of the disappointing result, Leeds defender Pontus Jansson once more showed his class with a rousing message on Twitter. The Swede due to return against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday after serving a two match suspension posted a rallying cry to the fans for Wednesday’s tie with Forest.
