“Ballers” (Season 2)

The second season of “Ballers” will hit HBO on July 17, in which Johnson reprises his role of financial manager Spencer Strasmore.

“Moana”

“Moana” was announced at last year’s Disney D23 Expo. Auli’i Cravalho and Johnson provide the lead voices for the animated film, set for a Nov. 23 release date.

“Fast 8”

Johnson will reprise his role as Hobbs in the eighth installment of the “Fast and the Furious” franchise. Last month, he debuted the first look for his character on Facebook. The film is set for a April 14, 2017 release date.

“Baywatch”

Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and Priyanka Chopra are bringing “Baywatch” to the big screen on May 19, 2017. The cast of the highly-anticipated film has been sharing heaps of behind-the-scenes images from set.

“San Andreas 2”

In February, we learned a sequel to 2015’s “San Andreas” is in the works at New Line. Johnson is set to return for the sequel, as is producer Beau Flynn and director Brad Peyton. Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario, who played Johnson’s wife and daughter in the first film, respectively, are also expected to return, along with Paul Giamatti, who played the seismologist who predicted the quake and its after shocks.

“Skyscraper”

Last month, Legendary won the bidding for Johnson’s China-set action film “Skyscraper.” Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing from his own script.

“Doc Savage”

Johnson teased a meeting with “Doc Savage” director on his Instagram post, shortly before he was confirmed to star in Shane Black‘s adaptation about the “Man of Bronze.” No release date has been set yet.

“Jungle Cruise”

Johnson is attached to star in Disney’s live-action “Jungle Cruise,” which is based on its popular theme-park ride. “Jungle Cruise” has been docked for the last few years, as there hasn’t been much movement on the project since the “Toy Story” duo of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen became attached in early 2011. That iteration of “Jungle Cruise” was set in modern times, though The Rock’s version is expected to be a period picture.

“Jumanji”

If you’ve lived under a rock, yes — the 1995 classic starring the late Robin Williams is getting a reboot, with Johnson set to star. Tom Holland, Jack Black and Kevin Hart are also attached to the project that has a July 28, 2017 release date.

“Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon”

In 2012, it was reported that Johnson would reprise his role as Hank from “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” in a third installation. He replaced Brendan Fraser, who starred as Trevor Anderson, in the 2008 “Journey to the Center of the Earth.”

“Big Trouble in Little China”

In 2015, The Rock was in negotiations to star and produce the remake of John Carpenter‘s cult classic “Big Trouble in Little China,” written by “X-Men: First Class” scribes Ashley Miller and Zach Stentz.

“Shazam!”

In September 2014, Johnson tweeted that he would play Black Adam in “Shazam!” Black Adam, ranked by IGN as the 16th greatest comic book villain of all time, is chief antagonist for Shazam — a.k.a. Captain Marvel. “Shazam!” is looking at a 2019 release.

“Rampage”

Johnson will star in a film adaptation of the 1980’s arcade game, “Rampage.” He teased the story line as follows: “The basic storyline is three mutated gigantic monsters (Silverback, Alligator and Wolf) destroy major cities and landmarks across the US.”

“The Jason Directive”

This film is optioned, in which Johnson would take the role of Navy SEAL Paul Janson. The film would be based on the late Robert Ludlum’s best-selling thriller of the same name.

“Alpha Squad Seven”

DreamWorks won the rights to the sci-fi pic “Alpha Squad Seven” in May 2015, to which Johnson is attached to star. The film is still in script phase.
