Hopefully this will help to appease James Hetfield.
Longtime Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich has apologized to Hetfield and the rest of Metallica, after a microphone glitch marred the group’s duet with Lady Gaga at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards.
“Obviously, we apologize to the band,” Ehrlich told the Associated Press, adding that the glitch was “awful.”

“These kinds of things are horrible when they happen,” Ehrlich noted. “That’s one of the risks of live television.”
While the group has blamed the mishap on a dead microphone, Ehrlich offered a hypothesis involving an extra in the awards ceremony.
“My guys say that the mic cable was connected,” Ehrlich said. “My guys’ theory was that … one of the extras (on stage) accidentally kicked out the cable that went to the mic.”

In the days since the partially botched performance, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has called the performance a “clusterf—.”
Ulrich also appeared on CBS’ “The Late Late Show With James Corden” on Tuesday, revealing that Hetfield was “livid” after the performance.
“I haven’t seen him like that in 20 years,” the drummer said of Hetfield’s mood backstage after the performance. “I mean, he was livid. I mean, he’s aged really well and he’s a pretty chill guy, but the first five or 10 minutes in that dressing room was not a lot of fun.”
