Kurt Metzger has spoken out on the social media drama surrounding his “Inside Amy Schumer” boss Amy Schumer.
“OK also can we enough with the messages blasting Amy when I specifically told her to do exactly what she did?” he asked in a passionate Facebook post. “You see what I’m talking about? You don’t have the whole story and you go ‘SNAP!’ I have decided!”
The stand up comic and writer on Schumer’s Comedy Central show was responding to the firestorm of social media comments that exploded this week, that culminated in fears that the “Trainwreck” actress was canceling her show all together. Don’t worry, she’s since assured fans that it is safe.

The drama started when Schumer voiced her disappointment in Metzger after he mocked rape accusers on Twitter.
“I am so saddened and disappointed in Kurt Metzger,” Schumer wrote Wednesday on her Twitter. “He is my friend and a great writer and I couldn’t be more against his recent actions.”
Schumer’s stance apparently didn’t sit well with some of Metzger’s supporters, and he had to call them off from attacking her, clarifying that he himself told Schumer to tweet anything she wanted to in regards to his situation.
Metzger has been writing lengthy online posts about another comedian accused of rape. Metzger caught criticism on social media after he began writing about Aaron Glaser, a comedian associated with the improv-comedy mainstay Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) in New York City. Multiple women accused him of sexual assault, and he was banned from performing at UCB after an internal investigation. Glaser has not been charged and has denied the allegations.
Metzger seemed to defend Glaser, saying that none of Glaser’s accusers went to the police, though he subsequently took to Facebook to clarify what he meant.

“My point, which I could have made more tactfully, was this: Why did the story of what actually happened come out AFTER this guy is declared a rapist?” Metzger wrote. “I will listen to ANY victim’s account. All that was given initially is ‘psssst Aaron’s a rapist pass it on.’ My point was that no one seems disturbed by this. No one sees that down the road, next time we might get it wrong.”
Then “Inside Amy Schumer” fans were sent into a tailspin on Wednesday after Schumer seemed to say the show was over while tweeting about Metzger.
“I didn’t fire Kurt. He isn’t a writer for my show because we aren’t making the show anymore. There are no writers for it,” she wrote.

Schumer clarified Thursday morning that she only meant the show was on hiatus while she is on tour and there was no timeline for its return.
“Doing Standup and focusing on writing more for the next year at least. We are slated for a season 5 but not in the foreseeable future,” she said.
