Disney CEO Bob Iger says only one actor has been cast for the new “Star Wars” film — and it's R2-D2.

Iger also confirmed that the film, due Dec. 18, 2015, will take place 30 years after “Return of the Jedi,” and will feature a trio of new young leads, as well as several “very familiar faces.” It will begin shooting in May.

Iger also said Brad Bird is working on a story for “The Incredibles 2,” and that Disney plans a third “Cars” film. He spoke Tuesday at Disney's annual shareholders meeting in Portland, Ore.

Iger said he has heard the many casting rumors surrounding “Star Wars: Episode VII,” but said the temperamental droid was the only character confirmed to be back — as director J.J. Abrams first announced in November.

Iger joked that R2-D2 will play himself. Kenny Baker has played the role in every “Star Wars” film so far, and R2's sounds were provided by Ben Burtt, the sound designer also responsible for the lightsaber hum and Darth Vader's heavy breathing.

Iger also said Disney's “Frozen,” which has earned more than $1 billion in global box office, is “poised” to surpass Pixar's “Toy Story 3” as the top-earning animated film ever. “Toy Story 3” has grossed $1.063 billion. “Frozen” is at $1.026 billion and just opened in Japan.

The CEO did not address the exit of Anne Sweeney as co-chair of Disney Media and president of the Disney-ABC Television Group, or discuss who might replace her.

Iger also said the next D23 expo will be held in Anaheim on Aug. 14-16.
