Toronto, ON – The Canadian
Hockey League today announced that Chicago Blackhawks prospect Brandon
Whitney of the Victoriaville Tigres is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the
Week for the week ending October 13 with a 2-0-0-0 record including a
shutout victory along with a goals-against-average of 0.50 and a .981
save percentage.

Whitney allowed just one goal on 52 shots last week helping the
Tigres earn a pair of victories to climb into first place in the East
Division standings with 17 points.  He earned back-to-back first star
honours beginning with a 20-save performance on Thursday as part of a
2-1 win over the Gatineau Olympiques, then picked up his first shutout
of the season on Friday with 31 saves in a 3-0 victory over the
Shawinigan Cataractes.

Whitney, a 19-year-old from Kentville, Nova Scotia, is playing in his
third full season with the Tigres.  The seventh round pick of the
Blackhawks in the 2012 NHL Draft, Whitney has a 2013-14 record of 6-4
with a goals-against-average of 2.72 and save percentage of .919.

Also considered for the award this week was Columbus Blue Jackets
prospect Oscar Dansk of the Erie Otters who won two games including a
shutout victory for a goals-against-against average of 1.00 and save
percentage of .961, while Alex Moodie backstopped the Saskatoon Blades
to a perfect 3-0-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 1.67 and
save percentage of .949.
