For New York Fashion Week, the Always Judging blogger puts her own twist on classic-cool pieces from our very own Barneys New York collection.

It’s easy to see why L.A.-based blogger Courtney Trop calls the The Ludlow Hotel her second home. The Lower East Side oasis provides the perfect hideaway before Fashion Week furtively moves over the city. “I only stay at The Ludlow when I’m in town,” Courtney confesses. “It keeps me sane while I’m in New York!” Seeing that the blogger is in town for NYFW and here with us today to shoot the Barneys New York collection, it’s only fitting that she bask in the glory of loft living while she’s here.

As we make our way into her penthouse, there’s an unspoken harmony between the Barneys New York collection, Courtney’s coveted aesthetic, and the city’s energetic skyline. It’s truly the perfect trifecta. The timeless design and superior construction of the silhouettes conform to her unexpectedly cool style.

While chatting in between looks, it comes as no surprise to hear that her list of must-have carry-on items when jet-setting includes “a great pair of jeans, a solid white T-shirt, the perfect pair of pumps that pop, and a cool-girl bomber.” It’s no wonder then that she’s drawn to modern classics like the structured leopard blouse and the wool-blend halter top from the Barneys New York collection.

During the shoot, Trop discusses how remaining authentic to her style has paid off in more ways than one. “I think it’s important to work with brands that make sense for me personally and that I have a long term connection and history with.” She shies away from things she wouldn’t wear in her everyday life and skillfully styles together pieces that speak to her. Adding her new trophy Céline red shoes to a striped knit and flight jacket has her bounding with confidence down Houston Street.

As she slips in and out of each piece, Courtney commands attention in a subtle manner that makes working with her on set effortless. The East-Coast-native-turned-West-Coast-blogger knows the city like the back of her hand and is able to pick each place to shoot as if she lived here. Not only is she familiar with the city, she’s at ease with the art of the style-out and builds each piece from the Barneys New York collection into clever outfits like second nature.

Courtney gravitated towards an oxford shoe that offered both elevation and comfort. “I love the oxfords with the slight heel,” she expressed. “Having a strong menswear-inspired shoe in your fall wardrobe this season is crucial, and since I’m on the petite side, I like how this particular pair lifts me off the ground a bit.”

With each selection, the timeless staples of the BNY collection are flawlessly molded into Trop’s signature outfits that transcend typical go-to looks. The one word she uses to describe the collection? Ease. “Everything has a certain ease to it, and none of the piece are intimidating. A collection like this speaks to someone who wants who wants to elevate their look and be a little more innovative when they reach for their layering essentials.”
