This season, they’re going one step further in this direction with an exclusive capsule created in tandem with Barneys’ team of buyers. The Bellroy XO Barneys New York collection has been reimagined in slim, minimalist silhouettes and rich, sumptuous leathers to create wallets that transition effortlessly between city life and international travel.
“The idea was to offer best-selling styles from their current collection, but in more premium leathers than are typically used,” our men’s accessories team says of the collaboration. “We felt our customer would be attracted to higher quality material, but still wanted the same great design features that Bellroy is known for.”
Crafted from either high-gloss of full grain leather, each of the five styles in the collection is lined in velvety nubuck suede and comes in four signature hues: Midnight, Tan, Plum, and Ocean Blue. “We ended up working with bold, rich colors in both types of leather,” the team continues. “These are easy-yet-beautiful pieces that any man can appreciate as an accessory.”
Changes were also made to the interior of the wallets, with designs being pared down and viewed through a minimalist lens. Each was considered specifically with the needs of the modern man in mind, focusing on keeping the styles slim and ideal for travel.
“We’ve maintained the considered design approach and functionality that Bellroy is known for, but elevated the experience using more tactile leathers, vibrant colors, and cleaner paneling,” Bellroy head designer Hadrien Monloup said of the capsule. “The result is a collection attuned to Barney’s customer and their meticulous attention to detail.”
