Catch 'Jimmy's Hall' On the Big Screen While You Can
Been having some trouble finding a local theater showing "Jimmy's Hall"? THEN THIS may be YOUR weekend! Though it often seems (to us, at least) that the list is a moving target, this weekend has landed and the inspiring Irish biopic is currently showing on 8 screens:in Tacoma, Wash.; Sausalito, Calif.; Three Oaks and Ann Arbor, Mich.; Asheville, N.C.; Fort Wayne, Ind.; Ithaca, N.Y.; and Eugene, Ore.By next weekend (Oct. 1), the poignant drama from the Sixteen Films’ team creative team of Ken Loach, Paul Laverty and Rebecca O'Brien is to add two theaters, in Wilmington, N.C. and Easton, Md. But it's never clear what screens may disappear from the list, so sally forth TODAY. (Here's the list of current U.S. venues, including links to purchase tickets at your local theater.)The film, from the team that has brought the world "The Wind That Shakes the Barley," is a poignant and startling story of Irish activist Jimmy Gralton's populist struggle against Ireland's "masters and pastors" in 1930s' Ireland. As well, when you send us your ticket (after you use it, of course), we'll enter you into a drawing for a free "Jimmy's Hall" poster, from Sony Pictures Classics. You'll find more info on this here and below.Below is the schedule up-to-date (as of Sept. 25) for the ongoing U.S. rollout of "Jimmy's Hall" in a select number of markets across the nation. The rest of the schedule is listed below. This well-reviewed film (New York Times, TheWildGeese.Irish and others) is based on true events, and helmed by Ken Loach ("The Wind That Shakes the Barley“, "Hidden Agenda"), from a screenplay by Sixteen Films' Paul Laverty. The film presents the story of Irish socialist and activist Gralton, the dance hall he built in the rural climes of County Leitrim and highlights how, in 1933, Gralton became the only Irish citizen to have ever been deported from Ireland. The film is distributed by Sony Pictures Classics.See "Jimmy's Hall" and Win an Official PosterMore on Sixteen Films 'Jimmy's Hall'9/28WILMINGTON NC10/1EASTON MD10/09GAINESVILLE FLFORT COLLINS CO10/11SUTTONS BAY MI10/16ROME NY10/24LAKEWOOD RANCH FL10/25BATON ROUGE LASee More
