Once upon a time a man and woman fell in love, got married, and lived happily ever after. Then two years later they went to Europe. Specifically to London, the Scottish Highlands and Dublin.

GUESS WHAT I’m talking about me and Andy. Sneaky, I know.

Yesterday I wrote about our adventures in London, and today I’m even more excited because I’m going to tell you about my very favorite part of the trip: Scotland. We were only there for three days, which I quickly learned is about infinity days too few. Now I’m busy peer pressuring everyone I know into booking a trip to the Scottish Highlands and taking me with them (cough cough – that means YOU).

Andy and I stayed in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. The River Ness runs through town, and Loch Ness is just a short drive away. We explored the beautiful city, took a day tour around the Isle of Skye and boated around Loch Ness looking for Nessie (no such luck).

Now, this is very important, so listen closely: That day tour around the Isle of Skye was my absolute. favorite. thing. we. did. the. entire. trip. I do not exaggerate when I say the photos I’m about to show you do not do it justice. We booked that day tour with a company called WOW Scotland, and I HIGHLY recommend them if you ever find yourself in the Highlands (which you should, and you should also take me back with you). And no, this is not a paid post…because Lord knows I’m still not smart enough to figure those out. It was just that good.

New life goal: move to the Isle of Skye, write books, drink wine. You’re all invited.

And now, without any further adieu, I give you Scotland.

Gahhhhh why don’t I live here

Cathedral in Inverness

You know you’re in Scotland when…..

Now we’re getting into the Isle of Skye day tour – please excuse the eleven thousand pictures, but it was just too spectacularly beautiful not to max out my camera.

The small fishing/port town of Portree – how pretty are those painted houses?! Dibs on the pink one.

Kilt rock

It was pretty windy there……

NBD just a selfie at the most beautiful place ever (the Quiraing)

The Quiraing

I don’t exactly remember what this is, but it’s pretty and I like it and it’s my blog so there.

Ditto… Just a really pretty inlet from the sea, I guess.

Faerie Glen – the home of the fairies

Faerie Glen

It was pretty windy at the Faerie Glen too…

Those are the Cuillen Mountains in the background, I believe

Eilean Donan Castle

I think I’m going to move in here and claim this castle as my own.

Swoon.

See? I told you. Scotland is the prettiest. (“So you agree? You think you’re really pretty?”)

NESSIE!

The sky really was that blue over Loch Ness

See that dark water behind us? It’s so dark because the water has a high peat content…….orrrrr it could also be a conspiracy to make Nessie harder to find.

The ruins of Castle Urquhart, on the bank of Loch Ness

We love Scotland!

So who’s with me, ready to move to the Scottish Highlands? If we all pool our collective money we might be able to afford a single room in one of these castles.
