Dr. Robert Brewington

Dr. Robert B. Brewington, Jr. serves as Minister and Evangelist for the Eastside Church of Christ In Pontiac, Michigan. He has been married to his wife, Karen, for more than twenty-two years and they are the proud parents of two children, Nikomus and Anika.
Dr. Brewington received his formal education in the ministry at the International Bible College in Florence, Alabama; North Carolina A & T University, Greensboro, North Carolina; The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Greensboro, North Carolina; and Mira Costa Community College, Oceanside, California.
He also holds an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Midwestern Christian Institute of Mt. Clemens, MI.
Dr. Brewington has preached throughout the USA, as well as abroad, such as, St. Vincent, Jamaica and Montreal, Canada. He has preached on numerous lectureships, at Christian Schools and preaching schools that prepare men and women to minister in our fellowship. As a former computer programmer for Laboratory Corporation of America, one of the largest laboratories in the world, Dr. R. B. Brewington’s services and analytical skills were utilized in their finance department and then ultimately as a programmer specialist/system analyst. Dr. Brewington began his work in the ministry more than twenty years ago; he has served at the Westside Church of Christ in Leighton, Alabama, and as the evangelist for the Northside Church of Christ, in Burlington, North Carolina. With “Glorifying God through Saving Souls, Serving Saints and Caring for People” as his mission, Dr. Brewington’s evangelistic efforts helped grow the Northside Congregation from two members to two hundred.
As an advocate of ministry both within and without the body of Christ, Dr. Brewington believes the Lord’s church should be a powerful, relevant influence and tangible blessing to the community in which he resides. He is actively involved with several local and international community-enrichment based organizations: he serves on the board of Directors for I.A.M.M. (International American Medical Missions) and Synergy (promoting cultural harmony in the church); He is Chairperson of the Board for O.P.H.S. (Oakland Primary Health Services, Inc.) and President of Shepherd’s House Community Development Corporations, Inc.; while in North Carolina he served as Religious Affairs Coordinator for the NAACP with Kweisi Mfume for voter empowerment 2000.
Dr. Brewington is a passionate student of the Bible and his personal studies have led to the development of many powerful biblically-based series he facilitates throughout the brotherhood: the Christian Disciplines, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Christians, A Lamp For My Feet and A Light for My Path-Bible Study…For Living, and The Power of Living in the Present, are just a few. Most recently he completed a series entitled, “Man Enough” -a journey to develop and empower men in the church.
As a man of God, Dr. Brewington looks to the Word of God for his inspiration and direction; two particular texts guiding this stage of his spiritual journey are II Peter 1:4-10 and Psalm 1:1-3. These texts, as he says, “Detail the anatomy of the things we, as followers of Christ, are really supposed to be building in our lives. “They are the undeniable, irreplaceable keys to our success.”
