Donald Trump's nomination acceptance speech was the longest of any candidate since 1972, but bigger isn't necessarily the better in this case. In fact, the speech was widely panned by conservatives:

MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace, former George W. Bush aide: The Republican Party I knew died tonight. #RNCinCLE

God he's a ham. This is painfully long. #RNCinCLE

This is a very dark and frightening speech.

Trump can be Trump off prompter or he can be McConnell/Ryan GOP establishment guy on prompter. He can't be both.

Trump is giving an Old Testament speech to a New Testament nation. No grace.

Unsurprisingly, Trump making a total hash of religious liberty issues. But he tried, right?

What's amazing is the original speech, as written, was powerful. This is just fragmented blather.

Trump would be better off telling stories, not rattling off statistics

Not everyone had bad things to say about the speech, though.

Great Trump Speech, America First! Stop Wars! Defeat the Corrupt elites! Protect our Borders!, Fair Trade! Couldn't have said it better!
