After the successful Cannes Best Actress award of Ma' Rosa - Lav Diaz film Ang Babaeng Humayo wins Golden Lion(Best Film) in this years' Venice Film Festival.
“This is for my country, for the Filipino people; for our struggle and the struggle of humanity,” - says Lav upon accepting the award.
Best actress awardee is Emma Stone for the American musical “La La Land.” while the best actor award went to Oscar Martinez for the Spanish-Argentinian film “The Distinguished Citizen”.
Ang Babaeng Humayo “The Woman Who Left,” is a revenge drama about the struggle of a wrongly convicted schoolteacher in the outside world after 30 years behind bars played by Charo Santos-Concio.
It is a great pride and honor to Philippine Cinema.
