HandMade Game, an independent game developer dedicated to artistic craftsmanship, today announced that its award-winning adventure puzzle game, Rooms: The Unsolvable Puzzle, has launched on Oculus Store as one of 30 launch tiles. Combining aspects of platform gameplay with classic sliding puzzle mechanics, Rooms: The Unsolvable Puzzle – VR Edition transports players to a mysterious mansion where they must solve puzzles room by room to escape.

Rooms: The Unsolvable Puzzle is a unique puzzle game inspired by sliding puzzle and platformer games. In a twisted mansion made of rooms that slide like puzzle pieces, the player should find a way to the exit by moving rooms and using what’s inside them. As the player explores the mansion, various gadgets are introduced and make the puzzles more tricky and challenging.

“The VR edition features improved visuals and additional gameplay optimized for VR. 96 puzzle levels are ready for your challenge, and more levels will be added soon,” said Jake Jonghwa Kim, Director of HandMade Game. “The VR edition will literally put you inside a fairy tale world of Rooms. As if a dollhouse popped out from a fairy tale, the twisted mansion of the toymaker looks amazing in VR. Besides that, the game is already a solid puzzle game with deep gameplay and challenges. With the additional positional tracking gameplay, we added another layer of puzzle in the game.”

In the game, Anne, a young girl, stumbles into the enigmatic Toymaker’s palatial home to find a plethora of rooms filled with increasingly challenging puzzles and traps. She must reach the exit of each room by rearranging panels of the sliding rooms and uncovering special tools and pitfalls. Room by room, she will unlock the unfolding tale of the Toymaker, whose motives remain shrouded in doubt. With 96 (+ more) unique room levels over four separate mansion sections, Anne will need to use every resource at her disposal to solve the unsolvable puzzle and find her way out!

The first title in the series, Rooms: The Main Building, has sold over 400,000 copies while receiving multiple honors and awards including Winner, 2006 Korean Indie Game Competition, 2007 IGF Student Category Winner, and 2008 IndieCade Official Showcase Selection. The Steam version of Rooms: The Unsolvable Puzzle won the 2014 Art Prize at Indie Stream festival, Best Indie Game and Best PC Game of the Year Award at Korea Games Award 2015.
