VANESSA G LONDON, the internationally acclaimed luxury fashion label founded by South African business icon, Vanessa Gounden, is making waves on South African shores with the release of the latest SS14 Collection, ‘Aquatic Divinity.’
The Spring Summer 2014 collection from Vanessa G is an imaginative and beautiful foray into the mythological aesthetic of the ocean. The renowned print designer once again creates innovative prints realised in the most luxurious fabrics, in a quest to create wearable art for the discerning, stylish woman.
Seen for the first time in South Africa, at the Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo Cape Town, key pieces from the ‘Aquatic Divinity’ collection were showcased on the catwalk at an exclusive D’Ore Fashion Show. Key media, socialities, VIP celebrities, fashion insiders and bloggers-in-the-know echoed similar sentiments to the crowd in London, where the collection debuted internationally, at London Fashion Week, celebrating it as the “strongest yet”.
Each piece in the SS14 collection is an exploration of artistic renderings of ancient Greek mythology and the natural seascape. Ecological iconography such as jellyfish and coral are intertwined with delicate florals and haunting visages, across a colour palette of deep jewel tones and feminine pastels. Illustrated across an opulent offering of separates and co-ords, the collection builds a capsule wardrobe of unique designs to covet. Featuring shirts and skirts, dresses, suiting, outerwear and accessories, this luxury label offers chic tailoring perfect for any occasion.
The three signature prints for the new season are ‘Thalassa’, ‘Kalypso’ and ‘Persephone’ – each story inspired by an ancient fable and weaving the narrative of the ‘Aquatic Divinity’ collection.
The SS14 ‘Aquatic Divinity’ campaign was shot in Cape Town, against the dramatic backdrop of the Two Oceans Aquarium, and features Vanessa G brand ambassador, model Caelyn Gounden.
With a globally established fan base, including names such as Natalia Vodianova, Jade Jagger, Yasmin Le Bon and Poppy Delevigne amongst others, locally, Vanessa G is already a firm favourite amongst local stars such as Jeannie D and Jen Su, who have worn Vanessa G dresses to recent local events.
