Arden Capris in Sea Blue paired with Kendra Tank in Camomile

I’ve been a fan of Aventura women’s clothing for a few years now: Check out my past reviews of the eco-friendly items here and here. Now, I’m delighted to be one of the clothing company’s ambassadors, which means I’ve been tasked to help spread the good word about the clothing that I wear here at home and on my travels. It’s a natural fit (pun!) since I really do find the pieces versatile, comfortable and great for vacations!

Recently I took several Aventura clothing items on my family’s fabulous spring break trip to two all-inclusive resorts near Puerto Vallarta: Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit and Velas Vallarta in Nuevo Vallarta. In fact, one comfortable outfit fit the bill for my travel days; on the plane from Colorado to Mexico (and then again for the return trip), I wore the Arden Capris ($75) in Sea Blue with the Kendra Tank ($34) in Camomile (yellow) and a thin, cotton multi-colored scarf (see photo at right) that I picked up at an Aventura sample sale in Portland last year. For the chilly plane, I wore the most wonderful lightweight sweater, the Kyle Wrap ($49) in Mineral Red.

The Arden Capris are Aventura’s best-selling item, and I totally understand why: The material is incredibly soft organic cotton with a touch of Lycra for stretch. I like that they can be rolled up into a “pedal pusher” length or worn a bit longer in a traditional capri style. The colors are great — the Sea Blue is bright and upbeat, but the pants are also available in more neutral hues. They fit nearly true to size (maybe a bit big).

Kyle Wrap in Mineral Red

The yellow Kendra Tank has a “classic fit,” which means it doesn’t fit super close to the body. Honestly, I think I’d like it even better if it hugged my figure a little bit more, especially for wearing under cardigans. I do like the burnout print; it’s not so see-through that I can’t wear it alone.

The Kyle Wrap is probably my favorite item from the current Aventura spring/summer collection. This open-front, knit-jersey cardigan is incredibly soft and I absolutely adore the long sleeves with subtle ruching at the wrists. This is a relaxed fit, which means it hangs away from the body, but retains a flattering look, for sure. I think the price point is excellent — so much so, I purchased two more Kyle Wraps (in Sahara Sun yellow and Sea Blue) after receiving my first complimentary one from the Aventura when I became an ambassador. I envision wearing these sweaters regularly on the ship during my stint in Europe working for Semester at Sea this summer.

The Ballari Skirt in Shitake

I’m also in love with my Ballari Skirt ($59) in Shitake. The conservative 24.5-inch length is ideal for my height (5 foot 8.5 inches), and it falls just below my knee. The skirt fits true to size, and (again!) the material is wonderfully comfortable — organic cotton and bamboo jersey. The embroidered and print flowers lend a feminine and flirty feel. I think this skirt can be dressed up or down. In the picture at right, I wore it to one of the fancier reservation-only restaurants at Grand Velas and paired it with some wedge heels, but I’d also wear it with flip flops for a more casual occasion — I’d even go so far to slip it over a bathing suit after a day at the pool. This is another item I like so much that I bought the same skirt in a different color, this time, Sea Blue! I look forward to wearing that brightly colored item a bunch this summer.

Mira Hat and Lisbon Scarf in Gypsy Red

A couple of other Aventura items that got some great use in Mexico: Mira Hat ($39) and cotton Lisbon Scarf ($29) in Gypsy Red. Actually, I’ve worn that cheery cotton scarf a bunch here at home, even while we still have snow in the ground in Colorado, and I wore the crushable, wonderfully packable Mira Hat nearly every day in Mexico — on the beach and in the pool. In fact, this shot of my kids and I, admiring the ocean from the Grand Velas infinity pool, with me in my Mira Hat, is one of my favorite vacation photos ever!
