Lately I've been noticing that Military inspired styles have been popping up more and more on my Fall Styles Pinterest board. There is something so edgy & tough about military styled items & they really add a different dimension to a fall look. Though I saw a lot of military styles during the summer months I always think of this trend as more of a cold weather trend; Perhaps it's because I find camo pieces pair wonderfully with leather pieces & that camo pants in particular pair well with ankle boots - and that doesn't exactly scream "summer style".

I recently read a comment during an online twitter chat which said "how to I incorporate military style without looking like I'm in battle?" and I thought - hey, I can help with that!

EDGY : jacket / pants / heels / necklace / blouse / Lipstick / handbag

FEMININE FLARE: pants /  blouse / heels / handbag / sunglasses  / lipstick

SUBTLE: pants / blouse / heels / bag / lipstick

Styling camo is, like any trend, all about finding what you're comfortable with. Going full out edgy may be fun & daring to some but could be completely out of another's style comfort zone which is when more feminine & subtle stylings can help ease you into a trend. When I first started wearing my camo pants (from the gap, very similar pair here) I often styled them with a bit more of a feminine flare because my style "comfort zone" really resides in the more feminine & girly styles. Now as time has gone on I've gotten more and more comfortable styling them in a multitude of ways.

EDGY:  With leather & studs being so in trend it's easy to create hardened edgy looks and adding a bit of camo into the mix just makes your outfit that much more street style chic. Pair your camo pants or jacket with studded accessories & coated denim/ leather pieces for an on-top-of-the-trend sort of look. This look is great for a night on the town.

FEMININE FLARE: Peplum styles have been huge this year and they are a great way to add a more feminine vibe to an outfit. Feminine styles are my go-to so look #2 is what I'd describe as a very "me" sort of look - when in doubt: go girly! This sort of style has a great versatility to it while still showing that you are a creative & on-trend fashionista.

SUBTLE: If you're not certain you're completely comfortable with a bold trend you can always find a more subtle alternative. These subtly camo printed black jeans could easily be paired with anything as the print is so natural it acts as a neutral.
