After six solid months of Republican after Republican attacking Donald Trump—and Trump nailing them back—some Republicans, especially Rubio supporters, continue to blame Ted Cruz for losing their support because he won’t attack Trump. Leon Wolf of RedState made the most honest case for why his ire continues to be raised for Cruz in “Ted Cruz Has a Problem.” Wolf, an obvious Rubio supporter, can’t get over the fact that Cruz won’t attack Trump like Wolf believes Cruz is attacking Rubio. “It’s not just that Cruz disagreed with Rubio. It’s that his disagreement was laced with biting sarcasm and personal attacks,”

A whole host of pre-holiday polls show that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is about to have a very merry Christmas. For the first time since the collapse of Ben Carson, Donald Trump has some real competition. Nationally, a new Quinnipiac poll shows Trump leading with 28%, but the Texas Republican Senator is right on his heels with 24% support. This same Quinnipiac poll shows Cruz tied with Hillary Clinton at 44%. Trump loses to Clinton 40% to 47%. What’s interesting is that Clinton is a very well known figure, one of the most famous politicians in the country, and even

Sarah Palin has given Tina Fey a taste of her own medicine. The former Republican vice presidential candidate has portrayed her liberal-minded celebrity doppelganger in a “trailer” for “31 Rock,” a fictitious version of Fey’s Emmy-winning NBC sitcom. The parody video, which was released by conservative news site Independent Journal, follows Lynn Melon (Palin), a television writer in New York City who struggles to find a balance between political correctness and her values. While donning glasses and clothing similar to Fey’s Liz Lemon character from “30 Rock,” Palin’s character identifies her “safe space” and demands a Big Gulp as she

In just a year, overdose deaths from opioid painkillers and heroin jumped 14%, hitting record levels in 2014, according to a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report released Friday. Between 2000 and 2014, nearly half a million Americans died from overdoses involving these drugs, which research suggests act similarly in the brain. The most commonly prescribed opioid painkillers — like oxycodone and hydrocodone — were involved in more overdose deaths than any other type of the drug. Those deaths rose by 9%. “The increasing number of deaths from opioid overdose is alarming,” CDC Director Tom Frieden said in

U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., came to the defense of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz on Thursday over Cruz´s battle with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio on immigration. Rubio and Cruz are vying for the 2016 Republican nomination for president, and the two senators went toe-to-toe on immigration during Tuesday night´s CNN debate, where Cruz attacked Rubio for being one of the sponsors of the so-called Gang of Eight immigration compromise in 2013, which included Democratic senators like Chuck Schumer of New York and Richard Durbin of Illinois. There was unanimity of opinion among everyone on the well-fed right and in the “conservative media” that Trump crossed a line when he called for a temporary moratorium on Muslim immigration “until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses.”[Snip]Now the Fox News Republicans and their groupies online are taking their road show onto Ted Cruz. The ugly work that went into the massive pork-filled omnibus spending bill snaking its way through congress is now starting to be exposed. And it’s not for the faint at heart. Members of congress had little input in the bill and didn’t even in many cases know what was in it. Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Republican of Alabama, in a blistering interview Thursday night, shed some light on the details. According to Sessions, lawmakers found out what was in the bill by talking to lobbyists, who had a better idea than they did as to what was being included in

President Obama made Christmas-time commutations of 95 federal prisoners Friday, while issuing pardons to two others, the White House announced. Most of the commutations dealt with drug offenses, though the pardons involved counterfeiting and bank fraud. Obama has now commuted the prison sentences of 184 people, surpassing the combined number of those granted by presidents Carter, Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton, and George W. Bush (117), the White House said in a statement. Friday´s list included 40 people serving life sentences. Obama has pledged to issue more pardons and commutations in 2016.

Bernie Sanders´ campaign on Friday threatened to sue the Democratic Party for suspending its access to the national voter database, saying the move threatens to undermine the Vermont senator´s presidential run. Jeff Weaver, Sanders´ campaign manager, held a press conference on Friday in which he described how the Democratic National Committee was unfairly choking off the “lifeblood” of the campaign. The DNC suspended Sanders´ access following the revelation that Sanders staffers improperly reviewed Hillary Clinton campaign data made available as a result of a software error this week by political data technology company NGP VAN.

Is it “hawkish” to empower the Muslim Brotherhood throughout the Middle East? What about arming Al Qaeda affiliates and creating chaos for Jihad to thrive? Thanks to Tuesday night’s debate, the American people finally observed a substantive debate that highlights the false choice and phantom labeling of “isolationist” vs. hawk. There legitimately are some isolationists who believe the Islamists are not a problem so long as we don’t “bother” them. But that is not the position of most conservatives. In fact, most conservatives fully understand the threat of Islamic supremacism. It is those who subscribe to the Graham/McCain/Rubio foreign policy

President Obama and Hillary Clinton have intensified attacks on Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, accusing him of manipulating voters’ “fear and ignorance” and using anti-Muslim rhetoric that helps recruit Islamic State terrorists — jabs that appear to be energizing his supporters and strengthening his campaign. Instead, the smears are part of a calculated ploy by Democrats who want to help him win because they are convinced the billionaire businessman will lose in the general election. “It definitely makes my allegiance to Donald Trump much greater,” Jeff

A gender gap of sorts is being blamed for an embarrassing moment during Saturday’s presidential debate when Hillary Clinton returned late to the debate stage after taking a bathroom break. According to The New York Times, Clinton campaign vice chairwoman, Huma Abedin, expressed concern to debate organizers before Saturday’s contest, held in the gymnasium of St. Anselm College in New Hampshire, over the relatively long trek the Democratic front-runner would have to make to go to the bathroom. Coverage of the Saturday night Democratic debate has focused on Bernie Sanders’ apology to Hillary Clinton for his staff’s poor judgment in viewing her campaign’s proprietary data. But Clinton issued a “sorry’’ of her own — although for a far less serious matter. Clinton apologized to a live television audience for returning late from the ladies’ room after the break. The reason is one many women are familiar with: An unexpected line for the loo. While Clinton waited for the ladies’ room to clear out, time ticked down and the debate organizers allowed the show to go on without her.

Democrats can hardly believe their luck. Donald Trump, the undisputed national front-runner in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, is poised to erase all of the disadvantages the Democratic Party should face in its bid to win a rare third consecutive White House race. Political parties have managed to hold the presidency for more than two terms only twice in the last century, and Americans are only moderately satisfied with President Obama and Hillary Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee. But Trump´s approval ratings with key voting blocs are so bad, and he has so dominated media coverage of the
