Reading Time: 3 minutes
What’s hitting my grateful list this month?  Dinner plates.  Yes, seriously plates are making me grateful.  I’ve been planning to buy myself a new dinner set for “like ever”.  But you know life, things get in the way (like school fees and buying food).   Then, a few months back, the idea of creating my own dinner set from random pieces of china happened.   I’m not normally one for randomness – so even I was surprised by the idea.  But that’s what I’ve been doing.  I’m drawn to beautiful blue/green china plates with slightly symmetrical designs.  And I’ve been finding them all over the place.  Retail, op-shops and even at friends places.  (Best watch me if I’m visiting – seriously might steal your plates.)   In all there mismatched glory they give me a little shot of happiness.  And as someone who
is ‘totally over’
lacks inspiration when it comes to cooking tea, I need all the help I can get.

I’ve also become a collector of steps, taking up the challenge to get myself 10,000 of them every day.   Some weeks I do better than others but all in all, I’ve been paying much more attention to how my body feels when it moves.  And it feels good.   I spend my workday lunchtimes wandering around the streets of central Ballarat, enjoying the fresh crispness of winter and watching my step count grow.   I stop and take photos of beautiful things that catch my eye and don’t care a hoot how ridiculous I look.  I’ve updated my Fitbit to a Versa to keep me motivated.  It’s sleek and smooth and has enough technology to keep me baffled and happy forever.  Even though I know things can’t make you happy I do love the way it looks and feels and the inspiration it gives me to get out and appreciate the moments outside. I’m truly grateful for that.

Essential oils have always been a big happy in my life.  But over the child-raising years, I sort of forgot how amazing they are.   Watching my collection grow again feels fabulous.   Only thing is I’m a little impatient and wish I could have them all right now.  (Again with the school fees and food thing.)     Absolutely loving re-learning how to create blends and finding ways to weave them back into my life.   (I’ve created a facebook group called Handcrafted Home Products with Essential Oils for anyone interested in aromatherapy).  I am grateful to have them back in my life.
