Bullet just misses woman, but shooter totally escapes prosecution, the nypost.com headline proclaims. Careful (i.e. OCD) readers will note that the headline does not conform to the New York Times stylebook, which requires that all words save definite and indefinite articles must be capitalized. That’s because The Post has a more casual approach to its headlines than the Times or TTAG. Both the Times and the Post, however, are unified in their pro-infringement position re: Americans’ natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. In other words, they’re both anti-gun – except when it comes to the police and other government agents. Which can put The Post in a peculiar position. Check this . . .

A Bronx woman watching “Criminal Minds” was nearly killed when a bullet whizzed through her wall — and the Correction Department captain who fired the errant shot escaped criminal charges despite attempts to cover it up, sources told The Post . . .

Eric Lynch, a Bronx Central Booking supervisor, tried to escape through a window, but retreated back into his apartment when he saw cops approaching, sources said.

He then placed furniture in front of the bullet hole in the wall to hide it from cops.

Lynch, 52, was charged with three felonies — criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and tampering with physical evidence.

But District Attorney Robert Johnson’s office dropped the case before his arraignment, saying the whole thing was an accident.

This blatant example of dual standards on guns highlights a simple fact: inequality > elitism > corruption > criminality. The fact that the Empire State tramples on residents’ gun rights and then ignores criminal behavior from “the chosen ones” who are “allowed” to exercise that right is all the proof – if proof be needed – that politicians and police are not to be trusted.

That was the default position adopted by the framers of the U.S. Constitution. Nothing’s changed. Except that New Yorkers have succumbed to, OK enabled government tyranny. One wonder how indeed if that sad state of affairs can be reversed. Meanwhile, Captain Lynch can cover that hole in his wall with some TTAG IGOTD hardware. Or lend it to his neighbor.
