If you’ve read our posts on Ishigaki, Taketomi and Iriomote Island, you could already see we had a pretty good time on the Okinawa islands in Japan a little while ago. We’re still planning on writing more blogs about some of the specific activities we did here, but for now I’d like to show you my Project Life Japan Scrapbook that I just finished.
I have been looking everywhere to get the find the right photo pockets for this album, but if you scroll all the way down you can find more information about Project Life and the links to Amazon, where I bought the entire kit. The links under the pages bring you to more photos on our Instagram account. I never want to scrapbook in any other way, really, I am a bit obsessed about it :)
Arrival on Ishigaki Island. “Ori Tori” means Welcome in the local Japanese dialect. Well… with such a view from the plane, we sure did feel welcome right away!
The jungle house we stayed at on Ishigaki was incredible, despite the spiders. I love the photo on the top right. Nick clearly hasn’t been eating out with YouTubers before, hahaha.
We were so luck with the weather, the food and the group. All great! And yes, while that one photo looks like a birds nest, it’s actually tempura seaweed and it was my favourite that night.
Awamori (sort of sake) does taste good at 9:30 AM, haha. So did the famous local donuts. Those ladies (mother and daughter) were the cutest ever!
Visiting the Yaima Cultural Village was one of my favourite activities on the trip. I got to put a funny hat on Nick and they had monkeys, what else do you need to smile??
That restaurant on the top, serving island vegetable curry, was amazing! The root I’m holding in the middle photo is wasabi, did you know that?
You don’t get more local culture in one page as here: ‘minsa’ textile (that we weaved ourselves), local food (including stinky tofu) and live music on a ‘sanshin’ (literally: ‘three strings’) instrument
I miscalculated and was two photos short on this page, but kind of like it now with the Japanese origami paper!
Cycling on Taketomi island was a fun little day trip. Those lollies though: sugar, sugar, sugar! Wow!
Ahh… the most beautiful place we visited: tiny Barass Island. Made out of coral, if you can believe it!
We were so lucky the weather went from aweful to amazing in just one morning, we had so much fun snorkelling!
That crab (and the rest of our 10-course meal) -Wow- Indeed!
Everyone’s favourite day: kayaking, climbing to the top of a waterfall through the jungle, amazing views. True Adventure!
Sadly our last day in Paradise… we have to come back soon for sure!
Some last great memories, a sticker I got from the cute Japanese couple sitting next to me on the plane, a handwritten note from Yurika our tour guide. AWESOME week!
Eh.. just some of the great looking food we ate :) :)
