Hey, Hey, Hey!
*News from London*
A quick update of the last weeks here in London:
Week 66
We started this month – very glamourously – at IKEA. Bought a new bookshelf and some storage boxes and we also finally managed to frame and hang our Vintage Travel Posters (that we bought in Sydney 3 years ago -oops)
Me & Tea (Her Dutch Blog & English Blog) went hotspot hunting for an article I had to write about the Soho neighbourhood and we also teamed up for the opening of a new Mexican restaurant in Putney (a bit far out – SouthWest of London) Lot’s of fun (and frozen margarita’s)
Another PR event I went to this week was organised by Amsterdam Marketing. Hopefully we will put together a nice Dutch-Themed trip this year!
Week 67
Nick and I went to see the Sherlock Holmes exhibition in the Museum of London. I got tickets for this at another PR event (love them, obviously) a while ago and we were happy we did, as we learned lots about this Iconic British character and also a bit about the history of London.
Having blogger friends, I often have blogger meetups. And these often end in us testing various strange products. Michael brought along this amazing VR glasses where we could see everything from Las Vegas to Iceland just by looking up, down and all around us. Can’t explain it. It’s insane, so cool!
With Dylan, I often meet in the city to work. One favourite spot is Foxcroft and Ginger, a cool little place in Soho with fancy tea and even fancier sandwiches. And crips. Because everything seems to come with crips in the UK. (not complaining here)
Week 68
Since we got a waffle maker for Christmas (which we may have asked for), we had to finally try it. It worked. We couldn’t move the rest of the week :) It was a bit to celebrate as well, as we just booked a trip to Portugal in September for Nick’s sister’s wedding and also a nice Family outing to Stonehenge, the Jurassic Coast, New Forrest and Brighton in the South of England in April. Very excited about it!!!
We also had proper food this month, party due to the fact that I found some olive oil and a bag of Italian pasta (oriecchiette) in the back of the cupboard that I got from a press trip to Puglia in Italy a long time ago. Turned out pretty good, right?
My Pinterest business is going really well! I’ve just reached 300.000 followers myself (holy cow!), have been working for The Planet D and Traveldudes and love it!, have been talking about creating a Pinterest campaign for a travel company, might work on a BIG Pinterest campaign with another client and have also been asked to speak about the platform in London soon. Hope to be able to share more news on those last things soon as at the moment that’s all I can know or can say!
Other brilliant news that I cannot really share yet (sorry!) is that I will be working for another BIG travel company in finding Dutch bloggers for them to work with. Have to get more details on that, but very, very much looking forward to do that!
Week 69
My breakfast meeting with a PR company that might want to work with me. At the breakfast Club of course. We ate a “bacon batty“, which basically is a sandwich with bacon on it. Totally legit her in London. Love it. Had one before at the Eating London Food Tour. Silly Brits.
Another new favourite freelance spot: the Citizen M hotel in London Bridge. Great Wifi and Red Velvet cake. All you need in Life.
Week 70
And so we arrived in week 70 already! (wow, we’ve been in London quite a while now!) Next month is going to be another busy one, where all the networking from this month will hopefully be put into action, so we can move forward again in this blogging business!
>EXITING TIMES AHEAD<
Today, I’m off to Berlin for ITB, which is a travel trade show AND I’ll also be taking part in Connie and Sebastian’s ITB Blog Camp, which basically is a blogging bootcamp, but then fun. I hope :)
During the week, there will be lots of networking, talking to possible new clients and maybe destinations to visit this or next year. I’ll also be listening to some talks on blogging and the future of tourism and I’ll be helping out at the “Blogger Lounge” which is new this year and should be great!
After ITB, there will be two more blogging conference coming up, the first one is Traverse over at Kingston Upon Thames in the UK, which I also help organising (it’s on the last weekend of March). If you’re interested in learning about blogging and want to meet other bloggers / brands to work with, no matter how advanced your blog is yet, I can definitely recommend to visit! It is going to be so much fun!
And the other conference is the Social Travel Summit in Hamburg, Germany, where all the top bloggers are brought together to learn from each other and talk about the future of blogging. Cool thing is that I will be helping taking notes for the White Paper that this conference will produce!
So… for now it’s goodbye London and I’ll see you again soon!
Other very important news.
My cider testing score this month:
Now, I’m back to blogging, because there is still a lot of work to do.
This is what I will look like the next weeks:
Bye!
xx Nienke
