You gotta love an airport named after a classic composer! Warsaw Chopin Aiport was not really in my travel plans to explore on my trip to Cannes. But, sometimes the travel gods have other things in mind, and you’re stuck somewhere against your will. Thankfully, the Warsaw layover was a bit of a delight!
First, LOT gave my travel companions and me several vouchers for a free lunch because of the delay. That’s a plus for European airlines! Since I didn’t know quite what to get here, I decided to find some typical Polish food, if it existed.
For an airport that handles 10,000,000 passengers a year, you’d expect some meal options, and they are there. For one, we have this awesomely named restaurant:
We settled for the buffet-style restaurant with some delicious options. And, it was all free (including a drink) with our vouchers. There wasn’t a set limit on price, but the restaurant had some options already lined up for us. I chose this dish:
And, of course a local beer, which even the locals admitted was hard to pronounce:So, I actually enjoyed my few hours in Warsaw. It wasn’t planned, but that’s the fun of traveling! Having experiences that you didn’t expect, and have a great day regardless. Now, if I can only get to Cannes…
