After wondering if I’d make my flight in Chicago to Europe, I ended up arriving about an hour before my departure time for my 787 Dreamliner flight to Warsaw on LOT.

Beautiful day in Chicago!

The flight itself was underway a little late (about an hour), and with my tight connection in Warsaw (also an hour), I knew I’d be missing my connecting flight to Nice.  The gate agents seemed confident that I’d make it, but I knew better.

I felt like the McCallister’s running down this 80′s hallway (KEVIN?!)

Sitting down in the window seat, I couldn’t help but play around with the Dreamliner’s 21st-century windows.  They are so much fun, auto-dimming and extra large.  We finally taxied out from the gate and were on our way.

For in-flight service, the food was not too bad in the back of the plane.  I had a stewed beef option for my first meal, and they offered up a light breakfast as the second meal option.  The only complaint I have is that alcoholic beverages were not free in Economy.  On a longer flight like this from an international carrier, I was surprised.

For entertainment, the seatback system is very adequate.  Over 100 films, TV shows, and games can keep a man occupied for such a long flight.  They even have some classic films, like Casablanca, available for you to enjoy.  As a film buff, I gravitated toward these options.

As we landed in Warsaw to beautiful weather, I figured I would be scrambling to find out how to get on a new flight to Nice.  Not so- LOT’s on-ground crew has a desk right after security that not only put us on the next flights (an hour and a half later on Lufthansa through Munich), but also offered up vouchers for a free lunch in the airport.  We’ll save that for next time!
