Driving is a lot more fun with music. So, Spotify and Waze thought, why not put the best navigation and music app together? The two companies just announced a new update, enabling the users of each app to access features from the other.

If you have both Spotify and Waze installed in your mobile you’ll see Spotify playlist visible on Waze app. With just one tap you can open the Spotify app from Waze and the last song you listened will start automatically. And vice versa: you can also use Waze app to start navigating, while the song continues to play in the background.

Road safety

To ensure your safety on the road, you’re only allowed to browse playlist within Waze when your car is at a standstill.

I found this partnership quite interesting. Waze was acquired by Google in 2013 for $1.1 billion, the company that has its own music streaming service competing with Spotify. However, with 50 million subscribers, Spotify is the world’s leader that dominates Google’s music service. So, this integration could help Google to make the Spotify users try its navigation app.

Spotify and Waze integration will only work for Android devices. So, if you’re an iOS user, you need to have some patience until this feature comes to your iPhone.
