Sony will launch two new smartphones next week before the IFA in Berlin starts. On its site, the Japanese manufacturer, briefly included many references to two unannounced smartphones; the Sony Xperia X Compact and Xperia XZ.
Sony has a large international press conference scheduled for Thursday, September 1st, ahead of the IFA. On Friday, September 2nd is the opening in Berlin the of the annual IFA, Europe’s largest trade fair for consumer electronics and as usual, we expect again a large number of new Android phones including Sony.
Xperia X Compact and Xperia XZ
It is likely that the Sony Xperia XZ device that we’ve seen in recent weeks on multiple images and renders will be introduced by the company at the event, but it does not stop there because Evan Blass also published a photo of the Xperia X Compact today. The design of this new model is again little different compared to the other models in the X series. On the specifications of both devices, no concrete information is available yet.

It is obvious that the X Compact is equipped with a smaller screen, probably around 4.6 or 4.7-inch with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The Xperia X Compact and XZ will undoubtedly be powered by the Snapdragon 820/821-SOC Qualcomm. This powerhouse is found under the hood of almost all the high-end Android phones, and it will be no different with these new models.
Furthermore, we expect that the new models are waterproof and dust-proof and feature a USB Type-C port. Fortunately, we do not have long to wait for more information on the smartphones, as Sony last week announced that it will unveil its new products on Thursday, September 1st. It is still unclear whether the event will be followed via a live stream.
